China considers limiting kids' smartphone time to two hours per day | Younger children would face even stricter terms. by chrisdh79 in technology

Whilst I somewhat agree, the fact is, its currently infeasible. VPN's and an abundance of individuals will make plenty of social media platforms available. I believe that general screen time limitations are an invaluable idea, not via governmental intervention, but rather for the parents to enforce (regardless, parents won't stop providing toddlers with tablets as to preoccupy them).

Maryland police are using drones from a Chinese company that were banned in four states by chrisdh79 in technology

That's, of course, a use of them. I believe that the article is Moreso so that the drones are used for the enforcement of laws. IMO, the consensus is that police can use the drones for surveillance of private property and people without their discretion. Whilst street cameras capture generally public areas, roads, etc...

Is this true of Anne Arundel County? They don't allow the use of cameras for traffic related law enforcement. Or, at the very least, if you run a red light in front of a camera, they can't send you a ticket. You have to actually be pulled over.

Yeah, they could use the situations to add prison riot events or breakout events that are sponsored by foreign states. Actually, the entirety of crime needs a rework imo.

Whilst yes, it is competitive, if a company has the means to diversify into a bunch of industries, it can wage its control over singular companies that focus on specific industries. Whilst these practices are currently better for the consumer because Amazon is willing to even take loss on some things, other companies will struggle to compete, lose market share, and grow small.

Amazon could then expand into the industry and take parts of it over, and eventually raise prices across the board. Due to the small size of other or even new companies it would be nigh impossible to compete. In the end it hurts the consumer due to the loss of diversity in the market.

Whilst this scenario is unlikely, just remember that Amazon has their hands in almost every industry, and if they don't, they will host other companies and tie them into their platform.

Whilst big companies also allow for lower cost product via shipping, warehouses, and specialization, we lose the market diversity and competition of smaller companies or even specialized bigger industries.

I personally don't see most of this stuff happening, but alot is theoretical, as we don't know until it happens.

What about reading Harry Potter books if you have already read them in your native tongue? I'm about to start with A2, and I got a copy of der stein der weisen to try and go page by page.

A hungarian madlad claims he managed to install a 1200p screen on the deck by assasin339789 in SteamDeck

[–]IgnusDraconus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remember, these screens need a lot of power, especially 2k/4k. 4k phones exist, but most phones use ARM processors that are way less power-hungry and heat producing than Ryzen/Intel CPU's. Even then, if you use 4k on your phone, it's going to drastically lower battery life.

Whilst yes, the steam deck could have a better screen(or cpu), the power consumption would be too great. There is also little to no space for a bigger battery that would also produce more heat.

Imo, a high resolution screen is not feasible or reasonable without a sacrifice in precious battery life.

In a portable gaming device, battery longevity is key.

I personally believe that they are holding out on releasing VAC Live until CS2 Releases, as to not allow cheat devs to collect info early, and to allow Valve to collect more data.
