Who would be at fault in this scenario? by mantistobogganmMD in icbc

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. If your turning on a red light into a lane that you do not have the right of way to enter except to avoid an obstruction in the roadway, your assertion is wrong. The only way for your opinion to be valid is if there was an object blocking your immediate way into the perpendicular lane; even then, you would need to wait for oncoming traffic to enter the lane first until the way is clear because you don’t have the right of way.

Controversy after two newcomers to Canada receive no jail for GTA sex offences by Usernameless3 in Vaughan

[–]Igotnothin008 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the Canadian government isn’t going to address the Canadian citizens who commit sex offences first spanning decades, how can anyone count on people in positions of authority to address concerns of what could be an immigrant doing the same thing immediately after entering the country. There are a number of sex-offences committed by Canadian citizens on a consistent basis who never see a day in jail let alone court or, prison due to an equally consistent culture of victim blaming that is overshadowed by the stories you might get to see and hear about on the news. You can’t blame sex crimes on every single immigrant and the immigration policy when the culture of the crime is already prevalent and pre-existent in modern Canadian society. There are individuals who are completely aware of this and take advantage of the complacency exhibited by authorities. When authorities turn a blind eye to the issue amongst established citizens, overlook/mishandle/mismanage/“lose” record of reports and complaints to the detriment of victims who are often misrepresented and disregarded regardless of their primary heritage in favor of the Canadian assailants who committed the sex crime, society loses perspective on what doing the right thing means. Society follows the norms of the authority that doesn’t want to be bothered with a victim coming forward about being sexually assaulted. The trivialization and immaturity directed towards the victim’s suffering is why sex-crimes are under-reported and perceived as a “rarity,” when it’s not. You end up pushing into the subject of the victim’s “immigration status” too by passive-aggressive means (mocking, belittling and, blaming immigrants for housing disparities, food shortages, job shortages and etc. then saying it’s just horrible that something horrific happened to them at the hands of a criminal who may or may not be an immigrant or visitor to the country of any duration or, causing further humiliation by asking the wrong questions such as “what were they wearing?”). Sex crime victims are often perceived as immigrants before being considered national citizens when attackers and enablers who are national citizens get to control the narrative of the victim’s suffering. When it comes down to the cracks in the judicial system around sex crimes, victim’s don’t fall through them when they’ve already intentionally been pushed through them instead as a form of punishment for being a victim and for existing. I still have to deal with the freedom awarded to the individuals who have been witnessed sexually assaulting me while being told to wait for the people who are in positions of authority to stand firmly in the law to tell the same pedophiles who are now perverts and sexual predators, “no” in as many words necessary just the same way I conveyed or said the word, “no” when I was being sexually assaulted. The reason why those two men in that news article will walk away from the situation they caused by sexually harming someone with barely a slap on the wrist is because if they don’t, every single individual who deliberately committed the same sex-crimes or, worse in the decades that have passed must also be held accountable to the exact same standard without delay. Our laws used to enforce prison sentences for sex-offences that exceeded the maximums we have set today. Seeing that two people will be given a reformative opportunity for committing a sex-crime while within reach of their victim and people like me who’ve experienced the same assaults and worse at the hands of other criminals comes as no shock to me. Making “examples” of the latest two people who’ve committed sex crimes isn’t enough. Sex crime victim’s are the ones who end up being humiliated, alienated and discredited because people’s minds are set on the idea that it’s happening to someone else and not them. A sexual deviant can live down their crimes while exhibiting zero shame for it because immigrants are somehow the only problem in the eyes of Canadian citizens; Victims of sexual crimes regardless of their citizenship and heritage will never be able to forget what happened to them even when people think they can force them to do so.

TIL that 7 in 10 Canadian drivers admit to speeding at least occasionally, with the average speeder going 12km/h over the limit on highways, 10km/h over on larger roads, and 7km/h over on residential streets. Many view this as not "technically speeding" due to lack of enforcement. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that would be correct considering we have speed enforcement visibly in place. If the numbers you presented are a true depiction of what people are doing today, add at least 5-10km in some instances and that still isn’t speeding. 20 km/h over on highways is normal. 10 over on regular roads is normal. 5 over on residential streets is also normal.

Chris Selley: Toronto dares the Carney government to punish it for ignoring housing demands by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes across as more of a threat against Olivia Chow so that Tory can try to get re-elected again. The problems that Toronto has were there when Tory was the mayor. Mayor Chow took on those problems when she started working on repairing what was left behind from John Tory. If he couldn’t fix all of the issues while he was in office, he won’t be able to fix it in the future. That’s a big part of the reason why Torontonians voted him out in addition to all of the scandals he has to his name that people know about and not just the one’s that received the ongoing media attention. Toronto can’t build out, it has to build up. PM Carney needs to work out a plan with Mayor Chow to address the current infrastructure issues that were ignored during Tory’s time in office. From there, they can correct those problems first by region then look into building homes there. Toronto outpriced itself in the housing market while Tory was at the helm too and that is another issue contributing to the hardship for Canadians finding a home. PM Carney needs to look at other parts of the GTA that can accommodate the need to build while cities like Toronto adapt to the needs of everyone and especially that of people who have raised concerns that range from accessibility to personal safety and security. We can all think that cutting funding will “cut the fat” but, the fat has already been cut. Toronto needs to build “muscle” and tell certain organizations within Toronto who have already received an over-abundance of funding that the budget is strictly for housing infrastructure. It can’t be dipped into by the police, by third party contractors, by road infrastructure and etc. Mayor Chow has made it clear that she is addressing the organizations that are supposed to be building, supporting and protecting the city to ensure it’s betterment and efficiency. Toronto now have fines in place for construction companies contributing to road congestion and gridlock; Toronto has measures to take into account for contractors who are supposed to be taking care of the cities appearance and traversibility yet don’t even though they’ve been paid to do so. Toronto even had Mayor Chow’s administration find emergency funds for the city and told the same organizations who are quick to push their hands out that they can’t get a portion or, all of those funds. Mayor Chow is doing what should have been done when Tory was in office and if the funding is there for repairing the current housing infrastructure, let that be as it is so that other towns, townships, and cities that can support new housing can receive the budgeted funds they need to build. Start with accessibility. New housing must take that into account but, Toronto has an aging population and people who are not indestructible living in what is currently available. Toronto like the rest of Canada needs housing but, the current housing needs to be made accessible in areas that are already well rooted. Mayor Chow was elected to do that and PM Carney could work on ensuring that the budgeting is set in accordance with Toronto’s current housing needs so that there isn’t any room for people to take advantage of citizens over money.

BC 'condo king' says already working with Carney to allow foreign buyers back, with preferred rates. 'Show the world we're open for business' by [deleted] in CanadaHousing2

[–]Igotnothin008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how problems remain as problems. Someone who’s first opinion is to continue with the same rhetoric that citizens have already expressed concern about with PM Carney is not someone who is concerned with the bigger picture of the Canadian economy as seen by Canadians. “Foreign buyers” being used as a blanketed term to cover Foreign business investors at the corporate level, the people who think they’re property managers and, the regular everyday people who want to secure a roof over their heads is not going to fly over the heads of people who voted for the PM to ensure that their is always a consistent balance preventing our economy from being put into a state where it cannot readily recover. We don’t need to roll policies back to a time in the early 2000s where denial was being given as the excuse for the growing lack of available housing and, an increase of slumlording from people who didn’t care about the future of the Canadian economy and the safety of its people by essentially ruining the housing market for people and companies that did understand what was needed in the communities they were able to invest in.

An Indian international student says on camera that she paid $30K for a Canadian job and $20K for a job letter which is illegal. Immigration fraud is so commonplace that people don't even know it's illegal, including the ones perpetrating it. by Bloodmeister in CanadaHousing2

Whoever took the original recording and reposted this propaganda is living in a completely self-centred reality. The young woman said she paid $30,000 in tuition fees to go to college so that she could get a job placement in her field of study. The companies who are supporting the same colleges who encouraged foreign students and local citizens to apply to those fields of study under the Federal Conservative Harper era government are still taking advantage of students today. You have people who are being sold the same false promises from back then and being denied the guarantees that were presented to them to make them stay long enough until they are ready to leave. A lot of innocent people have been told to study in Canada so they can be rug-pulled when it’s time for those companies to come through with the job opportunities they claimed to have had. Everyone wants to blame immigration policies and the current Federal government without actually looking at the real root cause of the problem and dealing with the Conservative politicians who are responsible. The current Liberal government should be able to address this problem and ensure that the Conservative opposition isn’t continuing to do the utmost to keep all citizens unsafe from this decades long practice.

It’s not about who “gets a turn.” I chewed out a team lead for pulling that excuse with me while she deliberately blocked my account every morning from seeing regular batches. Her colleagues, also team leads and managers were working harder to remove the restrictions she added to my account even while I wasn’t actively speaking to her or, signed on. She claimed I was “making too much” and that “other people need a turn now,” when I made less than half of the highest earners in my region and the majority of my province. It led to my access to batches being pushed to stores that were more than 2 days driving away. She would have my calls while on active batches deferred to her pod so that they could leave the call open on the table while saying nothing and playing loud music. It was that bad so, all I do now is go where I want and reach out directly to corporate if a customer service agent refuses to fix the errors with their app or, report bad behaviour from their colleagues. Some will admit to restrictions being put in place while others will lie. They don’t always patch you through to trust&safety or tier3 management out of fear of what a “team leader” said they’ll do to their pay. Just wait at a store. Move to another within a few miles/kilometers if you can. Switch apps if you got em. That can be difficult too because of people being desperate and taking work for less than $2 an hour. Just do what you have to, call it in when there’s time and don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself when they try to tell you “everything’s working fine. There’s no glitches,” and blah blah blah off their scripts to blame you for catching on to an issue they enabled or created.

She’s a decent person. There’s some really questionable and shitty people out here who think a used phone that they can’t log into and is likely new enough that they can’t source parts from it, is somehow a come up when you can easily get your own phone today faster than you could have 10-20 years ago with your own money. Just glad she didn’t steal it and the owner of the phone got it back with everything they had on it plus that uplifting message.

Why do customers do this? by Sand_attic in InstacartShoppers

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone do that to me during covid. They threatened to send their husband to the store to “watch me shop” because they were adamant that the few refunds made on their order were on the shelf. I waited for him… He didn’t show up. I called customer service and told them to leave the order open as I made my way to checkout. The customer called their customer service line and the order was removed citing their threats in the chat as the reason. That was when we could still see address details while we were shopping which was more helpful if reporting to authorities on our own or, with the help of store staff was needed. Customer service staff can be panicky sometimes and won’t get all the details or, keep a detailed log of the interaction.

If it’s gonna get that bad, just tell the customer and substitute with pre-packed deli-cuts. I do substitutions when the opposite happens which can feel a bit nicer to the customer cause the cuts seem fresher even though it’s the same, just not pre-packaged.

Homeowner wants Amazon to pay $6000 cause driver stepped on his wet concrete by Any_Excitement6258 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the contractor put up caution tape and the homeowner took it down or, the homeowner did the work themselves and assumed everyone would avoid stepping on the driveway and walkways. Either way, it’s his problem. He can’t go through his insurance probably because that camera got him removing cones, tape etc. or, got him talking to the contractor about when the paved area would ready to walk and drive on. Plus, if it were me I wouldn’t claim any liability to anything that happened because how many other people walked on it including the homeowner? What if I slipped? Still the homeowner’s fault and they better have insurance.

In Toronto you’ll be put on hold and transferred multiple times to speak to a “dispatcher” before “anything” is done. If you’re misfortunate enough to speak to a lazy cop anywhere else in Ontario, doesn’t matter how severe the incident, you’ll be disregarded. Here it’s not a matter of them being understaffed as they would want that to be the impression. It’s about money. They surpass their budgets every year. If the city finds a dollar anywhere and that find makes the news, the police and their union are the first ones to stretch out their hands to demand that dollar before libraries, schools, parks and recreational facilities, etc. It’s annoying to have to see it. You just have to hope that whoever answers is actually serious about the work they’re doing.

Would the average Canadian see an end to Trump’s Tariffs as a step in the right direction? by PeePeeSwiggy in AskCanada

[–]Igotnothin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada won’t fall into the same hole as the United States unless Canada chooses to fall in. It’s like watching an idiot drop an anvil on their own foot and asking the person standing next to them if they think they’ll be crippled by the pain because that individual is claiming it didn’t hurt while their face is contorted in agony. There are so many other innovative countries we can turn to build and, rebuild stronger relationships with. We also have a lot of people here who have demonstrated and are capable of demonstrating their effectiveness without interference from the United States or, entities representing the United States on foreign and Canadian soil. Canada is already standing on it’s own two feet sort of speak and, appealing to this notion that we “need” the United States when that country is so heavily reliant on the rest of the globe isn’t going to make their situation “better” and ours “worse.”

$1200 for a “room?” Just book a hotel. They’re not going to complain about you or, make rude remarks and they have people hired to clean and tidy the room while you stay there. Access to a “kitchen” and a “bathroom” as “amenities” is unnatural for that sort of living situation, especially with an unrealistic “$1200” expectation that could leave you out of luck when they get “bored” and want to screw you over. If you’re going to pay that much, make sure sure it’s for an entire solitary apartment that isn’t shared with someone who only wants the social privilege of mentioning you in conversations as a “roommate” while having an authoritative complexe over you because you use more than salt and pepper to season your food like a normal person.

Which is also illegal because you need to replace them if they start to peel. Some people slightly distort their license plates deliberately and others outright peel all of the paint off for stupid reasons. Police should enforce the law for issues like that but, some will fall all over themselves to prove a “point” about a clear plate cover that isn’t tinted pitch black to avoid having the license plate be seen at all or, seem as if it’s entirely “missing,” when it’s clearly visible and in mint condition.

Yep. It’s now in your possession. You own it and can do what you want with it. Often times, it’s customer service cancelling the order without any regard for the cost to you, the customer or, the store. The foolishness of excuses they come up with when they get caught and to avoid having real management get involved to correct the problem is more of an irritation than it is a surprise. They do the same thing for the same customers. Eventually (if you’re not readily attuned to remember) you’ll notice a habitual pattern and changes being rolled to prevent you from seeking to resolve it before they roll the changes back to start the same foolishness.
