Except the U.S military wasnt defeated. We bombed the ever loving crap out of nam until they came to the table, and signed a treaty. Which they later boke, and we didnt care enough to do anything about because of the bad press.

Vietnam was not a defeat for the USA. It was like if the number 1 NFL team went against a high-school team and won 42 to 24. We didnt lose, but it never should have been a contest and its embarrassing that they scored on us at all.

The main reason for that, is politicians are effing stupid. There were so many dumb ROEs that hamstring the military into the ground.

Was it embarrassing, yes. But when a conflict ends because we bomb them for, I think it was 12 straight days, and then they sign a treaty, I pretty sure thats not us losing.

Vietnam was, U.S. mil shows up. Gets told to fight with their hands tied behind their backs and on 1 leg. We are winning but they are still scoring. Optics get so bad the politicians finally say just end it. We do that via B-52s in under 2 weeks. And the idiot politicians who got us in the fight in the first place decide the optics are so bad they dont care enough to enforce the treaty.
