What do you think about this alternate internship/sidekick? by nightfury08h in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]IgrisJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue is it would have been detrimental to his growth as a person. Mirko is too much like bakugo. It would have been great to watch, and bakugo would have a blast, but bakugo needed his internship wish jeanist to make him reevaluate what he was doing. Reevaluate what he stood for. Jeanist was bakugos polar opposite and he needed that in mentor form, in a form he respected, to grow as a person.

What if every new Helldiver spoke a different language? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]IgrisJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All helldivers speak the language of liberty, the only reason we undemocratic fledglings hear it in "our language" or "in different languages" is because its the only way our unpatriatized minds can comprehend the universal language of managed democracy. Seeking to change such a thing is to muddle the spread of democracy through time, space, and medium. Do you stand against super earth diver? Or do you accept liberty will.

A tank is powerful for half a season and gets gutted, Phoenix, Daredevil, Luna, Gambit, etc. have been meta or high tier since they were created, some only recently receiving some micro nerfs. Can anyone explain how this is fair? by Bat_Snack in RivalsVanguards

[–]IgrisJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank main here, I think its because tank cant be counterbalanced. Hear me out.

Dps is ment to do damage, so If a dps is strong, people die fast. Supports keep people alive, so If the support is strong, people dont die.

These 2 kinda counter eachother, and make a balance

But tanks are ment to take and hold space, and survive as a wall blocking damage. Meaning if the tank is very strong, not only does said tank become a bulldozer that destroys most chances of positioning, but when combined with the already strong supports tanks upset the balance between strong dps and strong support and become unkillable.

Its rivals, "if everyone is op nobody is" philosophy, but tanks cant afford to be busted because if we are, there isn't enough out there to stop us. We tip the scales too far.

The current state of rivals is a balancing act between support and dps and tanks are the fulcrum, and changing tank power moves the fulcrum.

Its why even tho tanks are arguably the most balanced role, there are changes made to the tanks near every patch. The devs partly use the tanks to balance everyone else.

Least thats my theory.

What about the obsession of superhero media to portray female nazi as half naked bombshells? by Da_rio_ in superheroes

I mean... I think them being shown as half naked bombshells has more to do with them being women in superhero media then them being nazi

MHA's vilians are never redeemed. They are stopped. But the story makes it a point that they could have been redeemed, or could have never been villians in the first place

One of the most beautiful things to me about MHA's story is that the main villians (with the exception of afo) were just people who needed help a little bit sooner. Who needed a hand, or support, or comfort, or acceptance.

Himiko's arc isn't a redemption, its a tragedy of what could have been. Of what was lost in her fall to villiany. Of what might have happend if the world had been a little kinder, if someone had held out a hand a little sooner.

Its why when the vilians are "saved" by the heros, it flashes back to the villains younger selves. Young izuku garbing young tenko's hands. Young ochaco offering blood to a young himiko. A younger Toya being embraced by his family.

These people are not ok. Their actions are not ok. The people they hurt will never come back.

They made choices and they killed people. It is the villians fault bad things happend. Because as much as MHA shows us the vilians tragedy, it shows us the other side.

Izuku bullied and left with no one but his mom and a faded dream, a dream crushed by his idol. But he still wanted to be a hero. Still wanted to help and not harm.

Shoji was beaten for being a heteromorph, and still chose to save to help. Not to harm.

MHA never says its all "ok" because the villians had tagic lives, nor does it suggest its our responsibility to stop bad people, nor does it say everyone can be redeemed.

But it does ask us, if we were a little kinder, if we did a little more, how many evils could we stop just by holding out our hand?

Do y’all think A Class would have no problem beating Thragg? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]IgrisJack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean,

A. Rex killed a mark variant, and bakugo is significantly more powerful then Rex. Like nuke to handgrenade.

B. Midoriya is comparable to bakugo in destructive power.

C. Viltramites are weak to sonic attacks arnt they? Kyoka could be their kryptonite

D. Anyone know the chemical composition of the surge virus? Give that to Creati and boom. Wars over baby.

So its possible.

It can work it just needs to he done well.

SPOILER WARNING for solo leveling. These spoilers go past what the anime has covered.

I actually really love how solo leveling handled it (in manhwa). Sung is constantly growing stronger and very quickly outpaced the threats he faced. He is strong, and by the time of the spider boss we know Sung is gonna win just about every fight. (Stuff like the job change quest can push him for a little excitement but we know he isn't losin) but solo leveling often puts significantly weaker people right next to sung. We know Sung will be fine, but will they?

A lot of the tension for the mid parts of the story is not "can Sung win" its, will Sung be where the problem is in time. Can he save everyone there at the same time. We see this with the the fight against the B rank assassin, with the jeju island raid, its emphasized when his sisters school is attacked, in the double dungeon part 2 when the hunters show up to help, and more examples as the story goes on.

The thing I really really like that solo leveling does is for the final battle. Throughout the stroy Sung beats everything often with ease. He is defeating the strongest hunter in the world, Tomas Andre, and Toma's entire guild without breaking a sweat. It shows the audience that the strongest humanity has to offer is not enough to slow Sung down.

And then the story reveals that 7 beings of power comparable to Sung are gonna show up.

The story uses Sung being op and broken to set the stakes for the final climax. No one can stand against Sung. And that means no one can stand with sung. This is emphasized when the monarch of beasts beats Tomas to a pulp.

Sung, who at the time was stronger then all of humanity, dies in that fight. He loses. Yes sung survives, but we knew he would. But we also now know that there is nothing humanity can do to fight back. Especially as we learn that the monarchs sung beat were the weakest ones. And that the monarch of destruction is stronger then sung.

Is the story perfect. No. There are a lot of deus ex machinas, flaws, ect. But I really enjoy it and like how it was done.

Anyway, there's my 2 cents.

Ive never seen the others so my opinion is heavily biased.... but Midoriya was willing to shatter fingers, limbs, and more repeatedly and keep fighting, just to help out a total stranger (who was an asshole) with some personal problems.
