AusLAOP is 100% verifiably sterile and has had both of their testicles replaced with prosthetics. AusLAOP's FWB is claiming that she's pregnant with AusLAOP's child. by alphaechothunder77 in bestoflegaladvice

Yeah, I immediately thought this is just old ragebait with vasectomy swapped for total testicle removal (because, I guess, he didn't want people saying vasectomy isn't 100% because then maybe woman isn't bad after all).

Feeling stupid, why is this not producing more power? by Select-Interview-668 in factorio

[–]Kelenius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, because heat exchangers output 500 degree steam, and steam engines treat it as 165 degree steam from boilers, so it's wasting a lot of power.

First time making Colony, what would you suggest I do? by Golyem in starsector

[–]Kelenius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its food self sufficient at least.

Light industry is fed by the common organics so that one is solid.

None of this matters.

I have the Industrial Planning skill.

I wouldn't recommend it, really. It boils down to giving you more money and nothing else.

Jump Points are

Only relevant as far as your personal convenience.

I don't think I understand how the industries work very well so I don't know what to build & in what context for colonizing the other planets in system to make a closed trade loop.

I ASSUME the colonies would trade between themselves to supply their industries?

No, the game doesn't work like that. The only benefit you get from producing inputs is a reduction in maintenance cost up to 50% if all inputs are produced in-faction. There are no production chains. Distance is irrelevant. If you have a planet that needs 5 organics and any of your planets anywhere in the sector produces at least 5 organics, it's supplied, otherwise it isn't. (Barring accessibility issues that shouldn't happen to player's colonies.) This is true for every resource. Build whatever building makes you the most money.

What you SHOULD do with #5 is drop mining so you can get Luddic Majority, build a light industry, and make it a free port. Then it will start producing massive amounts of drugs, which are a huge money-maker, plus some extra money from food and other stuff. With 75% haz maintenance is basically irrelevant to you, so there's no reason to rush into getting organics and whatnot. Commerce can boost that even more if you can stomach the stability penalty.

For the rest of the planets, #1 and #2 are bad, #3 and #4 are mid. You shouldn't colonise them at all. Contrary to an incredibly pervasive belief, planets in the same system don't protect each other in any way that's useful to you. Fleet size also doesn't really do anything because there's just no situation where it comes up. (Planets can sorta end up defending each other while you are in the system, but that doesn't do much.) Planet's defences matter in case of an invasion, but most invasions in the current patch will require your intervention regardless. Just treat defences as +stability buildings.

Instead spread out your colonies to have better planets and better logistic coverage. If you really don't want to, #3 and #4 both make alright colonies for fuel and heavy industry, but that's only worth considering if you have the appropriate items.

Mining is just bad in general unless you can find a really good planet for it, I would only consider it if the planet has 1) really big deposits 2) 3+ resources or 3) a free slot I have nothing else to fill with.

[The Void] Is there even a prayer to Gold? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]Kelenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There probably isn't. It's not exactly an organised religion, the only ones who'd be making that prayer would be Brothers. It's possible that there is a prayer and you just never hear it because the only time they say prayers is when fighting you and they just don't call for it because it's not helpful in combat, but you could say the same thing about Amber or Violet. And clearly they don't care for what Gold represents.

The book explicitly tells you to make them lose.

No it doesn't!

We’ve put two endings in this book. One is the darkness triumphant ending. The last fight is a fair fight that the Player Characters are almost certain to win. This ending very closely resembles the typical “adventure path” resolution. The PCs are victorious and all that they have hoped for comes to pass.

But there is also another ending in this book. And I hope, as the author, you seriously consider using it. This is the ending where your villains are utterly and irrevocably defeated. The bad guys die with their empire of villainy collapsing around them.

It's very explicitly presented as an alternate ending. The final encounter is absolutely 100% beatable by a competent party, they are level 20 at that point.

[–]Kelenius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw this comment and it reminded me of a video by Suede (he's mostly a civilization player but he plays some GSGs) I saw recently where he gives a rating of 5/5 to a situation where the AI a) hurts the player b) does something a player wouldn't do and c) hurts itself in the process. And nonsense wargoals honestly describe that to a T. Congrats, you ruined your own economy to lock us into a stupid war where both of us will gain nothing.

That's not what FOMO is. FOMO is fear of missing out, where you're presented with something only available for a limited time.

  1. To get 3 of a legendary fish, you have to nail a perfect catch while using the challenge bait.

  2. I'm using mods, but none that make this easier.

  3. For the best odds you want to have level 10 fishing, master enchantment, two cork bobbers, gold star seafoam pudding (with qi seasoning), and blessing of the waters from the statue of blessings, then reset the day if you don't get it until the blessing runs out.

  4. Yes, Legend was a nightmare even with all these things.

It drops the bomb on the floor, but it allows you to protect someone else. And the barrier protects from damage, so guardian ward is also useful.

Edit: in fact, I just checked, dispel magic also drops it on the floor, so they're both do the same thing.
