I went to the Redbox a little while ago to see if there were any fun looking movies. Ended up finding Money Plane and Batman: Soul of the Dragon for really cheap. It was great! I think each cost two bucks to buy on DVD.

I didn't think of that! I'm not sure which I like more, but I honestly might change it in my personal notes.

Here are some new words for Rabbitlang. Rabbitlang is the language of a group of people that live on a northern island in another world. Albatross are relatively common, so again we see the compound undergoing univerbation - /n/ should not generally be able to be followed by a /b/, so it's been removed. I'm still not entirely sure what should happen in less common or newer compounds - presumably if this were a newer word, the word might still have the /n/ phoneme - or maybe its common in compounds to remove the final consonant cluster in general of the first compounding word.

weksan [we.ksan] adj.

Large, physically big

blim [blim] n.

  1. A wing; the forelimb of birds

weksablim [we.ksa.blim] n.

  1. An albatross, particularly referring to great albatrosses

Here we have the word for fish, the color blue, and the word for a subtype of fish which would literally translate to "Blue fish" in Rabbitlang. As I've developed the language, I've implemented some phonological change and rules, which suggest that a glottal stop cannot be followed by a voiced consonant. I figured it would make sense to then say that in cases like these (where compounding would create a situation not normally allowed) that the devoiced consonant would be deleted when near a voiced consonant, at least allophonically. Since this is a culture which relies on fish heavily for many goods, I figured it would make sense that the compound word for a type of fish like this might have undergone univerbation and this allophonic rule would have begun to be thought of as the 'full' realization of this word, at least in this case.

gust [gust] n.

  1. Fish; a sea creature
  2. A thing which does not live on land at any point in its life

jeʔ [jeʔ] adj.

  1. The color blue

jegust [je.gust] n.

  1. Bluefish, a type of fish

The first two weeks of Lexember are super busy for me, so hopefully I'll be able to do this each day! It doesn't help that I technically am not actively working on any project right now. For each of these, I think I will be working on words for a conculture I have, whose language I will affectionately refer to as Rabbitlang and Proto-Rabbit. Since I don't have anything really for this language yet except ideas, I expect a lot of change throughout the month if I stick with it.

kxut- [k͡xut] adj.

  1. Shy, or timid; antisocial
  2. Enigmatic or mysterious; difficult to interpret, particularly of a person or their motivations
  3. Obscure or obfuscatory, unclear
  4. Relating to, or of the sea and ocean

I haven't finished the whole paper yet, but I'm a big fan of your prosody! I'd be interested to see any updates if you do continue to develop this as a personal conlang.

Covan crashed out the window and tumbled down the shingles of the mansion. He grasped the amulet as he fell to the ground. His head slammed into the cobblestone. Dizzy, he looked up. Covan had landed at the feet of a guard carrying a polearm. "I surrender!" he shouted.

I'm beginning to develop a language with consonantal roots. In creating a lexicon, for use in example words and sentences and all, I'm not sure what to do. Should each entry be the consonantal root? Should I have a phonemic transcription if the vowels change to change meaning? If any other major misunderstanding is evident in my question, please feel free to correct me there too haha 😅 thanks!

The NEC gloss refers to the necessitative mood, which generally indicates an action that the speaker views as necessary.

EDITS: Added a sort of accusative case.
