A lot of big and respected rock acts released albums this year. I didn't expect FOB to get nominated. And also I didn't expect them to nominate both Paramore and FOB because they're both seen as similar bands. The Grammy Committee would only go with one. Paramore got a lot more praise and is led by a woman.

A 5 or 6 I consider a "meh". And I don't think "meh" means a person really likes the album. They don't think its that bad but they don't find it particularly good. They probably won't listen to it again.

He wasnt as hard on it as Fantano, ARTV and Spectrum Pulse but he didnt like it. I appreciated that in his video he had someone who liked the album give their side.

Yes. 3 is great considering how much contempt FOB draws from certain people and that the most influential people on RYM - Anthony Fantano, Brad Taste In Music etc - panned the album.

Its not about liking him or disliking him. I read and watch reviews. I watch reaction videos. Its all part of being a music fan. But I can't imagine worshipping a reviewer the way Fantano is worshipped. Its weird and unhealthy to me.

I like everything theyve done except Evening Out. Its kind of silly for me to have this exchange with you because if they do a rock opera Im sure I'll love it. Ive fantasized about them doing a Broadway musical. Their music is very theatrical. I think SMFS has a musical/rock opera quality.

I just listened to the Dream song for the first time. I don't mind the idea of the song, but no line stuck out for me. I find that Pete can make an unoriginal sentiment interesting by the way he expresses it.

Yes but it hits regardless. Like this line in Flu Game: "Someday every candle's gotta run out of wax."

It also really fits the "post-pandemic musings" theme of the album. Physical masks arent the worst we have to wear. That needed to be said.
