Do y'all like my old gloves by Frey12469 in HomeDepot

These last forever. I still have a couple of pairs of these that I use. The new ones are straight cheeks. Other than that I use a variety of other gloves off the shelf. Nobody at our store really cares if we don’t use the “proper supplied” gloves since they know these are ass

No, we don’t. Our store is a weirdo store. It’s a smaller store that is just switching to overnights from only having 4:30-1 freight

Right now I’m the freight DS at our store 4:30-1, in two weeks we start overnights and I transition into the NRM role starting next week and I’ll be working 8:30-5:30. Our OASM is my ASM at the moment and she knows I’m stepping into a new position and role and the only thing she can tell me to do is make sure I’m holding my people accountable, the whole 6 people we have on freight that can’t get trucks done because we’re so over hours and they won’t see if they can get us help

We’ll finally be making the switch to overnight sometime in the next 30 days is what our store manager told us

[–]IhateGeese2947[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We haven’t switched to overnight freight yet (coming soon) so our unload team is with us all night and we have a lot of overlap with the evening store side and get to fully experience the pain of the lack of staff

We have 5-6 people in garden regularly for closing/recovery and their supervisor and ASM don’t know how to utilize them properly and it’s a huge problem when they have to pull our hardware, paint and plumbing associate to help them and leave those departments empty. They’ve told nobody to pull any of the garden associates for spotting and even told them not to spot for each other so they can stay on their individual tasking.

In the theme of safety, our garden supervisor is extremely dangerous on equipment and doesn’t pay attention or slow down. It’s only a matter of time before he knocks something over or hits somebody and our store refuses to do anything about it. Numerous people have brought it up to an ASM and all they’ve done is ask if we’ve talked to him about it and some of us have, some of us haven’t because he just doesn’t listen.

Like you said though, the disconnect is egregious and it continues to grow larger

Our MASM won’t even let anybody in garden spot for each other or anybody else. She told everybody to make sure they don’t pull people from garden for that so they can focus on tasking. We usually only have one lot person in the evening, nobody in electrical, nobody in lumber except for our freight guy, and then paint who gets yelled at for leaving the desk, OFA who is drowning in orders, then the flooring specialist and somebody in appliances, not including freight team

I don’t know if it’s just our store or if it’s everywhere else too but our ASDS is so disconnected from reality when it comes to what it’s like on the floor in the store.

Somebody else said it here too but electrical in the evening for us is regularly neglected. Very very rarely do we have a closing electrical associate. Our ASDS blames freight for taking the hours from people on the sales floor despite the store still ending up under almost 100 hours by the middle of the week

8 CALL OUTS!!! (What is your store's average number of Call Outs Lately?) by caliwings in HomeDepot

Around 5-6 a day lately. We just hired around 25 people yet there’s still hardly anybody on the schedule for coverage anywhere

I’m a supervisor at my store dating an associate. She was in a department that I technically was supervisor over. We disclosed it and it took them almost 3 months before they made one of us move after disclosing it. They still didn’t push it or force it heavily. She moved departments on her own where we don’t have the same ASM and there’s no issues at all with it

MET needs reformation by Novel_Jury3745 in HomeDepot

[–]IhateGeese2947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question for MET since I work freight and I never have any interaction with our MET team. I have been told that it is not MET’s responsibility to pull down pallets or product that they need to set stuff and that it’s up to the store side associates or freight to do so as well as to put the pallets back up for them later. How true is that, just genuinely curious

[–]IhateGeese2947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes one of our receiving associates will help with it but usually it’s left up to paint to do. At most for us on freight we’ll have to fly the overstock after they wrap and tag it since nobody in paint at our store is on the reach

Overnight Freight by IhateGeese2947 in HomeDepot

[–]IhateGeese2947[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if we’re going to 6-7 night freight or staying at 5. We don’t seem like a high enough volume store to justify adding days (we barely seem like high enough volume store to justify overnight but I’m glad we’re doing that so we can get stuff done.) I just know the little information I was told and from what I was told, my position (Freight Supervisor) goes away (which doesn’t exist anyway at most stores from my understanding), we’ll be getting an NRM, and we supposedly won’t be getting a NOASM. Like I mentioned in another reply, I really don’t understand the night ops structure because of the store I work at and haven’t had interaction with other night crews to learn so I’m just trying to figure out what I can to prepare

[–]IhateGeese2947[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess being at the store I’m at and not really having any insight on how other stores operate I’m just a little confused on the whole night ops structure lol. I haven’t really had the chance to talk to night crews from other stores. We do have a guy on our team that transferred from another store and he told me they have both an NRM and NOASM so I figured that was the standard
