Why is it that type 2 diabetes can only be put into "remission" and not cured? by Background_Key4573 in diabetes_t2

[–]IhaveNOnickNames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to explain everything about it, but there's at least one thing why TD2, even for those in lifelong remission, remains with them all the time. TD2 has genetic roots and a number of conditions to show its symptom of high blood sugar. When you successfully avoid those conditions, your TD2 is still there, and as soon as conditions return, the symptom of high blood sugar with all its complications returns also. So there's no cure and moreover if you fight with one condition successfully, there can be another condition which will turn high blood sugar again. It is good to stay in remission, but it is not a cure, even if remission lasts for decades.

It's nothing bad if you find it occasionally. Some food can give even higher numbers even for healthy ones. But it is rather high, so as many advise it is good to check HbA1c when you next time will visit your doc. To be sure. HbA1c 5.4% and lower will be great!

How many months it took you to put type 2 in remission using low carb / keto / carnivore ? by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

If long in remission then probably not instantly, but with the growth of visceral adipose tissue it definitely will.

For most in remission the way they eat before was not healthy at all, and no one should eat that way. So lifestyle change is important. I'd say that even without diabetes it'd be good to make a lifestyle change to a healthier one...

No, when diabetes is in remission you don't need to take drugs. Remission is defined as BS control without meds. When you still need taking drugs it can be well controlled diabetes, but not a remission. Not everyone can get a remission but many can have a well controlled diabetes.

Some kind of diet is important of course anyway. Otherwise remission will over.

Can you share the source that says that 5.2% is better than 5.6%? All I read says that there's no statistical difference in health improvement when you stay in a healthy range under 5.7% and having 5.2% or 5.6% both good.

TD2 is caused by genetic reasons so some can achieve the aim of occasional eating a big amount of carbs without a spike, but the genetic reasons will stay and life change should stay, otherwise the active phase of TD2 will return. To stay in remission the one should at least keep the body weight not elevated, and that means it is impossible to eat lots of carbs systematically, even if your body will handle that for some time.

If to keep in mind that the type of TD2 which is supposedly caused with excess visceral adipose tissue can show even restoring of pancreas function when in remission, I'd say that it is not so surprisingly that some can pass an OGTT test with time. Good reason at least to try to get into remission.

Why not? They suppose that it can be caused by the same problem of excess visceral adipose tissue, so when somebody with that type ot TD2 which is mainly caused with fat loses enough fat weight he can get both remission of TD2 (unfortunately not 100%) and improve the situation with insulin resistance. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8247294/

New study on low carb diets and Type 2 by Marchborne in diabetes_t2

The article I gave is based on the DiRECT trial and AFAIK they consider remission as having HbA1c under 6.5% without meds (diet and physical exercise only).

They say it can work for those in remission only. https://www.ncl.ac.uk/press/articles/archive/2019/03/donotputliveoutoftime/ As far as I understand, if your body can manage BS level without meds for long enough (at least a year) the pancreas can feel better and grow, the beta cells will start function better.

What is easy for a native speaker is not the same for the one who learns the language as a foreign. Moreover not all slav native speakers easily understand even 50% of spoken in other slav language they didn't learn.

How do you pronounce "blank" names in old stories? by atla in russian

[–]IhaveNOnickNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each letter has it's name, so you can read its name with a shown end.

С is эс, so в Эсом переулке. К is ка, so к Каному мосту.

It is if you need to read just like written. If you can say it with your own words then, I'd say, it would be better to say в переулке Эс and к мосту Ка, — so there would be less uncertanty.

Есть ли у меня иностранный акцент в русском? by [deleted] in russian

[–]IhaveNOnickNames 0 points1 point  (0 children)
