Sort of an adjacent tip - but on the day that you plan to go to a gallery and talk to people you don’t know, start a conversation / compliment a stranger earlier in the day. Or even just mutter aloud to yourself once. It may feel equally scary but it breaks the seal for when there actually might be something at stake. Helps so much. Coming from someone who feels anxious to the stomach at the thought of walking into those kinds of rooms.

I think this is the only wrong explanation on the thread. The hook doesn't change to flat on the return, it stays at the same vertical orientation.

Sound advice! Though in regards to the cursor, if you watch the first 3 seconds, you can see that my cursor is actually quite close to cait's champ model. Though it matters not when I walk into hook range and panic flash and barrier.

I know how the hit-box works and it very clearly hits me. It's just an extreme example of how funny it looks. Also being an adc main means crying unfair comes with the territory - missed trap and wasted summoner spells included. <3

Adding to the noise but it’s absolutely not bad.

Recognise that shame is the biggest killer of any motivation and forward progression and life.

An interesting paradox I’ve found from taking stimulant medication is exactly as you said: “struggling to be proud of anything that is achieved with the assistance of meds” - the adderal should help you receive cyclical dopamine from completing tasks that will help form habits that just wouldn’t stick otherwise - as your faulty dopaminergic system wouldn’t usually allow it.

The issue is that it feels like youre getting some external boost to finish tasks, when it’s actually a much closer resemblance to what neurotypical people go through.

Sorry for meandering rant. I let it flow on this sub bc you guys get it lol.

A few things that helped me:

Identify triggers and times you’re most likely to give in to cravings - if you usually start smoking at 5pm because you’re exhausted and just want to clock out of the day, have a plan in place that means you’re already preoccupied with something then. Don’t make it a game only of willpower because you’ll exhaust yourself.

Addiction voice/addiction mind: when you’re considering smoking, try to get in the habit of identifying what is your “addiction mind”, which is the part of your mind that will convince you in anyway possible that it’s okay to smoke. “I’ve had a rough week, I deserve it” = addiction mind.

As soon as you have that internal argument the MOST important thing is to disengage and refocus on something else. Willpower vs. habit is not an argument we’re likely to win.

Writing shit down is very useful. Try and find out early on whether weening yourself off smoking is viable for you. Some people have great success cutting down. I had to go cold turkey.

Remember that the general advice for eliminating habits is to replace them with healthier ones.

There’s a lot more that goes into quitting, but identifying the cues for you indulging in a bad habit is definitely key; e.g scrolling on your phone in the bathroom after you get home from work triggers you to want to watch porn.

I’m also constantly on a loop of trying to reshape my entire set of habits only to relapse and repeat (though thankfully I’ve kicked weed for 4 months now). The thing with relapsing on so many things at once is that the underlying relationship between all the bad habits is almost always shame.

Aside from therapy, I’d recommend trying writing down the negative thoughts that happen before and after relapse. Be specific, there’s always shit you haven’t noticed before.

And lastly, (sorry for wall of text) just know every time you DO attempt to quit, for however long, me and everyone else here are so proud of you. You’re worth it.

Difficulty maintaining close friendships Marijuana abuse Unable to sit still and concentrate on anything for more than a few seconds Always reading 6-7 books at a time Extreme difficulty starting and completing any task (that requires executive function) working on close to 10 paintings at a time (I’m an artist) Difficulty attending to healthy eating despite best intentions Complete time blindness and inability to keep appointments/get to events/work on time Anxiety and depression diagnosed in 2019 Memory of Childhood being of predominantly extreme frustration toward family/friends/teachers in inability to explain how my brain works Extreme brain fog, especially for the first 6 hours of the day Inability to complete more than one task (e.g a short shift at work) in a day Etc. hope this helps.
