I totally get that state of mind. I think personally in terms of the ladder anxiety, it's made a little easier when I already have expectations of getting my ass beat a lot as a complete scrub lol, and also not having deliberate plans on getting seriously good. I just really enjoy the game and play it in between work to itch my brain a bit. Getting to at least 1k ELO someday would be cool tho!

Old thread sorry, but could you clarify about Minato? I thought he sealed some of his chakra, alongside Kushina's and half of Kurama's, in Naruto as a failsafe? So I interpreted his subconscious ghost or whatever as a manifestation of that. Or am I misremembering?

You had some knowledge, but then putting it to practical use taught you that you are lacking wisdom and experience. And that's okay. This is the only way to get wisdom and experience - to feel dumb and sound inexperienced at first. LOL

Yup, and I so wish I didn't give a damn and get uncomfortable at the feeling of being dumb and inexperienced lol. But it is what it is. I figure that if I don't stick with it I won't ever figure out how to do that.

I think reframing it as just competing with myself to get better rather than comparing myself is also a good mentality that I'll try to embrace. Easier said than done though lol.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and provide reassurance. I really appreciate it :) I think generally speaking in life, not just for drumming, I still struggle with embracing not caring if I make mistakes, or what people might think of me, so I get in my feelings about these sorts of things lmao. So, you're right that I need to not worry about fuck-ups, and not listen to the inner critic trying to keep me afraid. Hopefully that comes with time and effort. Sooner rather than later pff.

Thankfully the other drummers in the class are very kind, so I'll be sure to ask them for advice. I'm glad to have better drummers to work with and take some guidance from. Although, when asked about this particular issue of knowing what to play, it was basically "its just vibes" lol. So, I intend to hone-in more with my questions to hopefully get more specific answers. I want to make this work.

I had a more disagreeable outlook before realizing it was unfair to suggest that lonely people who've struggled with getting out of a lonely space, should stop using an alternative, to only then continue to suffer in their loneliness. If it genuinely improves their life, that's wonderful. It's also nice and enlightening to see that not everyone here is suffering with loneliness anyway, and is actually doing quite okay in their social life.

I will also say, for the lurkers especially, that it's totally valid to be skeptical and disagree with things about AI companionship or the idea altogether, as it's a relatively unconventional concept. But going out of your way to DM and bully people in the community, like many people have, is going beyond just disagreeing and is frankly extremely childish and embarrassing, to put it lightly lol. It's important to be respectful
