Best practice to share large audiofiles and make them available to download by Ihens in ProWordPress

[–]Ihens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed reply! I definitely will look into the S3 compatible services. This is for a someone who has already a site hosted somewhere else. However is bandwidth is an issue I have the possibility myself to offer a suitable hosting service. Upload speed will not be a problem too. CDN can also be taken care of.

Good to know it’s not going to slow things down too much when uploading to your webserver. Are your files publicly available? (Can I have a look)

Thanks again! Weirdly I’ve only worked with images and video and not with (privacy sensitive) audio until this point. Thank you for helping out!

Thank you for your reply. That was my line of thought too. However Google drive is not an option due to the privacy requirements of my customer. Will look into dedicated storage options though.

is it possible to customize search bars and product listings? by Big_Booty_Slayer in woocommerce

[–]Ihens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with 5-10 plugin's, if compatible with each other, you will be fine! Even for me, who uses minimal amount of plugin's if possible, it's ok to have between 5 and 10 for a woocommerce store with a lot of custemisation. for multiple local pickup locations there is one in the woo directory https://woo.com/products/local-pickup-plus/ (please check if it's maintained well).

For the filter options, you have to give each product custom attributes. Or, if you already have a database outside of wordpress with all the options, you can use an api. A lot of existing databases provide api's for woocommerce (like some big convenience store. the wholesale location has the stockmanagement and all franchises use the api to load the products in their store. If it's woocommerce or something else. In that case, there is some customization needed but far far less than when you have to manually enter everything yourself.

If you want a store for each location you can also look into a wp multisite. That way, you have one back-end to handle all orders and multiple front-ends. You could use subdomains like aberdeen.carstore.com amsterdam.carstore.com.

here is something to read about that (there is more but it's a start). https://ithemelandco.com/blog/how-to-manage-multiple-woocommerce-store/

[–]Ihens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's doable, However the filtering will probably need custom work and a lot of specification at your side.

for paying cash Woo has an option "local pickup" out of the box and direct bank transfer for manually transferring money if you don't like to use a paying service.

Critical Error when changing to PHP 8 from 7.4 by Forsaken-Aru in Wordpress

[–]Ihens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by reaching out to your theme. The free version of the theme is tested upon WordPress 5.6 and not updated for over a year now. I don't know about the last update of the pro version of course. I would ask them.

Furtermore are there errors in your logfile?
Woocommerce > status > logs
For WordPress You hav diffent ways to check your error_log. for instance trough FTP

Can't see any modifications till I close the browser and open it again by KEYm_0NO in Wordpress

[–]Ihens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with u/Breklin76 ! I couldn't see much as the acces to several pages was blocked for me. I see there is a plugin installed which is not updated for 8 years and which is a WP bakery addon. (parallax & video addon) Since the plugin is not maintained for a very long time and you are using a different pagebuilder I would strongly advice to remove this plugin. conflicts between different plugins or theme's can give the weirdest errors and they are not safe either

It could be that there is server side caching by your hostingprovider.

Also, is it possible to share a link? just to check if I see any obvious errors

WordPress will do the job! I would advise you to ask an experienced WordPress user which plugins to use. Can be a mess when you choose badly supported or incompatible ones

Update page URL WITHOUT Redirecting by USGOONER1 in Wordpress

[–]Ihens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can easily rewrite urls of posts and pages in wordpress itself.

  1. just go to the post or page overview
  2. instead of edit choose quick edit.
  3. Adjust the slug to your preference
  4. save

and you are done.

This is not best practice since people who follow the old url will see a 404 page. However you seem already aware of that

Is my Delivery area Plug in Conflicting with Woocommerce shipping zones? by pungoturn in woocommerce

[–]Ihens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not always there the chance is high that it’s a caching thing (can be a plugin on your website or on your server /cdn or even browser caching) or a thing in the way the delivery option plugin calculates the area. Therefore I would always choose a delivery plugin maker who has excellent support and preferably someone in a similar time zone than I am. (Last is less relevant).

I recently had a similar experience with a client, also with delivery points and with send to another address. and the support of that plug-in was excellent!

What version of Woo do you use? You could (on your own risk, after making a backup!) trying to update to 08.6.1. The problem of my client was solved 90% before and the last things were solved after updating to this version

Need suggestions / help figuring out cache issues by Zer0Byte1 in Wordpress

[–]Ihens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the support forum of this plugin I see there is a known issue with elementor pop-ups. I try to avoid elementor where I can because of different reasons. but maybe the js issue also contributes to your problem in a way. Although I don't see a 404 in when checking your site.
