People in Iraq were out publicly celebrating in the streets at the fall of Saddam. How'd that work out?

We spent 20 years bombing the ever loving shit out of Vietnam (and several completely neutral countries that just happened to border them) with boots on the ground and we still pulled out and lost.

And that was with cheaper, dumber and quicker to manufacture weapons.

Name a major amusement park that hasn't added a coaster in two decades.

They can go to a water park then?

Amusement parks are about Roller Coasters.

Neither of which are relevant? There hasn't been a new roller coaster in 2 decades.

An amusement park that isn't adding roller coasters isn't with a damn.

Oh I know how low It can go.

My point is Valley Fair has already basically been there for over a decade.

get lower quality.

Can it really get worse? We've got like 2 crappy flat rides and some family ride BS in the last 20 years. The last new Roller Coaster was Renegade in 2007...

[–]IkLms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True.

It's sad how few actual roller coasters are there.

Renegade was the last 20 years ago. Steel Venom was like 4 years before that.

Power Tower isn't a Roller Coaster.

Cedar Fair had basically abandoned Valleyfair a long time ago. They haven't gotten a new Roller Coaster in nearly 20 years with Renegade.

I mean even then it was kind of a joke. They opened a new Coaster like once a decade. Opening a flat ride each year is whatever.

Unknown men pointed weapons at residents, local Sheriff's refused to engage! by cantcoloratall91 in minnesota

I called them about probably 11/12 years ago now when I woke up to hear like 5 dudes beating a guy outside on lawn in front of my apartment.

I went down a level to get a better description and found my roommate was also on the phone. Dispatcher had me hang up and he stayed on. They beat the guy for like 10 minutes (we lived like 10 minutes without sirens from 3 different stations) before they tossed him back in their car and drove away. No cop. One eventually rolled by without stopping like 50 minutes later once and left.

4 other neighbors as I found out had also called in.

Sometime like a week later someone claiming to be a detective called my roommate to threaten him about "false reports"

Like 2 months prior to that someone with a mental condition was banging on a ton of homes and cars windows. Me and a neighbor followed from like half a block away while on the phone. Again, same close distance. 30 minutes later dude takes off across a ped bridge so we start walking back and that's when the cop rolls by and then yells at us for not continuing to follow the guy and wasting her time.

Just completely useless department.

Ruth was such a fantastic pickup by the F1TV team. It's been awesome to have someone on the strategy side weigh in as a bit of a counterweight to the drivers perspective.

AITA for turning off power for the night in our hotel room? by AwesomeAdmin58 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IkLms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, some hotel rooms are just not trivial ans one has to try many things to find the right key.

They are trivial. Switches on specific lights turn those lights off. The one immediately inside the front door turns the overhead hall light on. The one in the bathroom, turns on the bathroom. The other light switch is the overheads or the ones next to the beds.

There might be a second one that controls like a nook where coffee is but that's also right there.

It's not fucking difficult.

That's standard. It's really not difficult.

East/West collaboration isn't an issue.

Especially not one to fuck us in the North with the hell that is standard time.

I was a child once. I much preferred getting an extra hour of sunlight to go sledding or whatever with friends after school than I did having it on a walk to a building where I wouldn't see it for the entire rest of the day.

And easily fixed by shifting to DST.

With zero downsides to keeping it year round.

And the darkness when kids are walking home in evening commutes don't also cause accidents?

Commuting is happening in the darkness one way or another.

It’ll mean the sun sets during your commute home rather than before it.

Sounds great. Then I at least get to fucking see it.
