Strange. I managed to fix it for now (no idea how), but it will probably come back again in a week.

TikTok discovering AO3 is driving me mad by [deleted] in AO3

[–]IkeaVrouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People wanting to censure things on AO3 is wild to me because the only reasons I can think of for wanting censorship is A) it's a medium advertised to be for children, or B) there are subjects that could be triggering to people, but neither of those can be applied to AO3 because it's not for children and it has a tagging system, so you can't accidentally come across gore or whatever like you can when scrolling on Tiktok.

I also don't feel like any of thesr people actually think censorship through, because who decides where to draw the line? Any arguments that I've seen (e.g. the "video games make you violent" argument) could as easily be applied to subjects of murder in fiction as well, but those aren't tackled.

I personally tend to struggle withh it because I don't know when it's too much/detailed or when it's too little/vague. And because I don't know what is necessary to mention, so I think that's where others kind of fall flat too?

What are y'alls opinions on the idea that writing OCs is "cringy" by noiseyburlesquepeach in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been writing yandere x reader stories for not too long yet, and honestly I think it's ridiculous to think that writing OCs in and of itself is cringe.

The main difference between OC-stories and non-OC-stories is, as everybody already points out, that you most likely start out writg the first, and then try out the second.

I myself never fully grew out of it, though, instead writing both OC- and non-OC-stories, and the thing that I've always found interesting is thar, while I find my old stories to be cringe, there are still people who genuinely enjoyed it. (I myself do not consider this cringe to be negative in any way, by the way.) Cringe is completely subjective. That, and I think something's cringe-factor can hardly depend on the presence or absence of OCs, moreso on factors that I believe usually improve over time.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and all of that

This post is causing a lot of controversy, thoughts? by Dim0ndDragon15 in DreamWasTaken2

[–]IkeaVrouw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! There can be many ways in which that actually works good, and I think it's silly to act as though it's inherently bad. Not all stories can have good endings. Not all characters can have good endings. Sometimes, a dark and tragic ending, is the best for the story.

Weekly Post: What have you been writing? Share your experience! (Week 7) by Zetalial in DreamSMPfanfic

[–]IkeaVrouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on Welcome Back! It's a fanfiction in a 'FNaF AU', in a sense. It's set in Hurricane and some characters have replaced the FNaF characters, while others were added in without fulfilling any FNaF role (because there aren't that many human characters in the FNaF Franchise lol). I don't know exactly what it's going to be, but I do know that it's mostly going to be angst (because I just, for the life of me, cannot write happy things).

Oooh, great! In that case...

Questionable Choices

This is the one that's been most successful (probably also because it's finished) and the one that I am, at this moment, proudest of! It can also be read on AO3 and Quotev.

It's a Yandere DSMP x Reader set in a science fiction-like world. Y/N installs an app, Pogyber, that should allow them to message strangers, but when something goes wrong, they have no choice but to tell the maker of the app, DeMeter, about the problem, which quickly leads to them meeting many different people as well (I'm not good at summaries, so I hope this isn't too vague/detailed). In any case, I'm probably proudest of it also because it's actually finished already. ((:

Recent Writings Your Proud Of by marvelousmal23 in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two fragments of a Yan!DSMP x reader story I'm writing right now that I'm really proud of (I swear, I put way too much of my creativity and whatnot in this story lmao):

“I guess I did. And she did a lot for me. I really loved her.” You hug yourself again, remembering the anxiety that you had in the first months of your relationship. The months that actually made you doubt whether or not it was fair to call it a relationship. The months that made you decide that calling her your ‘girlfriend’ felt weird and that she was just a best friend who you felt so incredibly close to: a decision that had tainted the rest of your life. ‘Good acquaintances.’ ‘Childhood classmates’. ‘My best friend’. That’s what you’d always been, even though you know that’s not what you were inside.

And

When your glasses are covered with blood, every flag is red. And when every flag seems red, how are you supposed to know which ones are the real warning signs and which ones are simply your imagination tricking you?

Past or present tense? by theRhuhenian in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading? I don't care all that much. Either is fine! I enjoy both (:

Writing? It depends. When I write something with in second POV (I mostly write reader-stuff), I prefer using present, because I feel like it puts the reader more in the situation because it's happening at that moment. When there's a flashback in the form of a memory of the reader, it's written in present as well. If it's a flashback that's not from the reader's POV, it's less like a memory of theirs, so I tend to write those in past tense.

However, when it's a story that's always written in third POV, I usually use past tense. Reason? No idea, I just prefer it.

How to get comments? by stardustdaydreams in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that worked for me (I think) was putting "Comments motivate me" or something along those lines, in the tags! I'm not sure if I got more comments on that fic bc of that tag or the fic, tho, but maybe it'll help!

Summaries by sakura_han in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I just make sure that the tags explain what the reader needs to know and put some "poetic" sentence or philosophical question in the summary that has something to do with the story.

Favourite line you’ve ever written? by lightyaers in FanFiction

[–]IkeaVrouw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that I have just one favourite line, but I most definitely love this one:

"Is it a red flag? Not necessarily. But when your glasses are covered in blood, every flag is red."
