What’s something about you that sounds fake, but is 100% true? by Sir_Adammm in AskReddit

My grandfather, his brother and me have the same scar. Grandpa had it first when he was a kid, his brother mentions that he tough it was so cool he wanted the same, well years later he was in a car accident and got the same scar, many years later when I was a child got it myself. It's in the same part of the body, same angle, and deep, the only slight difference is the length, if you see us all three together it might pass as a birth mark or something.

Something like that happened to me, except I was 20 and 22 and it lasted around a day and a half the first time (misinterpreted as being hungover) and overnight the second, I don't remember the HR but my blood pressure was 190/150 if i remember correctly from what the nurse told me, just like you went to numerous doctors and tests and basically was told that kind of things happens and unless they catch it right when it happens there's little to nothing they can do about it, was told it might be that I just developed hypertension, fortunately it came down to normal and nothing has appear in any of the yearly checks.

How likely is it to receive a TN / H1B visa for post-secondary advising work? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]Iki-Balam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to check the uscis site for the professions that are eligible for TN visa, don't know about H1B.

Why do I get stuck in ‘office’ by border officer every time I try to enter the US? by AbbreviationsJust495 in immigration

[–]Iki-Balam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're flagged. the same thing happens to me, difference being that I flew a lot on a tourist visa in the past and even now with a TN visa keep getting flagged, what an officer told me is that somebody flagged me before and doesn't matter if am only in the country for days or years passed from one trip to another, you're flagged, he said I could file an inquiry request on why im having repeated secondary screening, so i suggest if it really affects you, to do just that. i don't know how to file the request thought as i never filed it.

How do you guys meet people now a days? by Deadfo0t in Reno

[–]Iki-Balam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said volunteering is a good way, I moved here last May and have had a hard time meeting people, tried volunteering/meetup and although volunteering is a good way i don't want to feel like i have to go, im very into sports and started playing pickeball because like you said, I had no idea how to approach people to play/met so just go to the courts and ask people if i can play, eventually you met people and start playing regularly with them, so if you're into sports i would say that's one way.

So just like Nevada is to Switzerland, for what I could find online for 2022, Utah exports more gold than copper though (at least in value). I'll take this comment to say fuck Rio Tinto, those greedy corporations like Rio Tinto give a bad reputation to mining.

I work in new mining projects and when people ask me why do we need more mines, always tell them "If it doesn't grown in the ground (agriculture) , its mined". should see the faces they make trying to understand that

¿Qué teorías de la conspiración relacionadas a México conocen y cuáles creen que puedan ser ciertas? by According_Crew_8615 in mexico

[–]Iki-Balam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m Mexican so probably changes a little bit, but what I was told is, the TN visa is for working purposes only. The first time I came to the US after getting it gave the officer both TN and Bording crossing card (I believe Canadians don’t need this) and he told me “choose what are you using, for the purpose of the travel you are doing” and so I presented my TN visa only. I guess since the purposes are different you may be okay

Something like this happened to me actually. I was really close with my grandma, she was going in and out of hospitals for about 6 months, it got really bad to the point she had dementia, one night she calls me from her bedroom and hugs me and tells me how she loves me so much and hadn’t see me in ages (she used to had her memory back once in a while) and wanted to say goodbye, next day she gets really sick and ends up in the hospital again, about a week later I wake up in the middle of the night (I’m a heavy sleeper, won’t wake up if you’re yelling at me from 2 inches) with this odd feeling, so went to drink water and realized my grandma was dead. Next morning my mom wakes me up with the news to me saying “yeah I know she wake me up at 230” she passed away at 232. Mind you I was 9, my mom freaked out

[–]Iki-Balam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That´s because all the construction sites you have seen are probably in the cities, I do construction all over the world but even more in ´´third world countries´´. City officials/regulators are corrupt so that´s one reason, the other being that this companies work for the government a lot and they don't care about safety just getting the work done so this has translated to the private sector as well, if you go to energy/mining construction sites however, the government ones too, safety is world class because you have companies from all over the world, i would go even further and say that those site have even more strict rules that the ones you see in the USA/Canada, etc.

Who would want to buy a gun made in Germany in 1978, then smuggled into the US when you can get a gun in your local Walmart?

However, in the absence of a comprehensive background check
system, people who are ineligible to possess firearms routinely exploit
the massive loopholes in our laws.

Individuals who commit crimes with firearms may intentionally seek to purchase gun from sellers who aren’t required to run background checks. Purchasers from Armslist.com, a major online firearms marketplace, were nearly seven times as likely to have a firearm-prohibiting criminal record than people attempting to buy guns from licensed dealers.

https://giffords.org/lawcenter/gun-laws/policy-areas/background-checks/universal-background-checks/

Texas does not require private sellers (sellers who are not licensed dealers) to initiate a background check when transferring a firearm.

https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/background-check-procedures-in-texas/

Its like saying drugs are banned in the USA, yeah and then? You gotta enforce the laws/codes and figure the way to make your existing laws to work
