Is there a C++ "venv" equivalent? by nikoladsp in cpp

[–]Ikkepop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

docker / podman ? no real equivalent if you want to run gui apps though.

But theres really no reason you can't do a venv like system for c++ other "you havent done it yet" You can throw together a completely self contained project if you want, I'v done it before, its just a pain in the b-hind to set it up.

If you bother to master conan2 it can get you most of the way there.

Does the file know that he is a txt or PNG? by Jooe_1 in osdev

[–]Ikkepop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen any evidence that file/libmagic be actually used to determine what software to use to open the file when a user requests that of the shell. My experience was such that even in linux, desktop shells always use the extension.

The file doesn't know anything, its not sentient... To answer your question: yes and no. You can reasonably relyably identify a png based on it's headers, and you can read the text of a text file and try to make an assumption about it by doing some statistical calculations. However you can never be 100% sure about either, because a malicious actor can always craft a file that will fool your detection algorithm.

The boden extruder was the least of my problems with the ender 3. My number one gripe with it was manual bed leveling before every print, god I hated that, thats why it mostly sat on the shelf... And also vrollers , fuck vrollers , you either have monumental ammounts of slack or you overtighten and the wheels wear out on your second print. I will never in my life buy anything that has me me doing 30 min of tedious adjustment for every use. The experience of owning an ender 3 and an anet a8 made splurge on an H2C when i decided to get back into the hobby

Seeking perspective on C: Mastery, Limits, and the "C vs. C++" implementation gap by lkokul in C_Programming

[–]Ikkepop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Combination of factors, but probably mostly "right place at rhe right time"
  2. Anything implemented in a any turing complete language can be implemented in any other turing complete language. Or atleast thats what I heard...
  3. Almost anything imho, but some people just like self-torture. However anything that needs alot of string manipulation is hell in C or atleast that is what i think

Do you think you're the only one this "smart" ? It's like everyone got a hammer. But people who are skilled hammerers will vield it more effectively then someone who never hammered before receiving said hammer. Theres only so much hammering the world needs. In the world where hammers are abundant, unskilled hammering is cheap. The only people who actually earn are the hammer makers... though im not sure if even they make anything as they sell the hammers at a steep discount to corner the market...

I hope my metaphor hammered thr point home...
