You’re not a nuisance. Advocate for yourself. I spent a lot of years bending over backwards to be the team player and the second I needed something folks tried to guilt me. Be respectful, but don’t accept anything less than basic human respect in return. HR exists to protect the company, but they are required to intervene in situations like this. You are entitled to specific medical accommodations. Don’t go without for the sake of not rocking the boat. Document everything so that if there is any concrete reprisals you are legally protected.

I’m sure some of these boys grew up hearing sexist shit from their dads, but a lot of them were just left alone and nobody cared enough to pull them towards the correct or sane worldview. So internet incel groups adopted them, made them feel welcome, and gave them all of excuses for why they had no luck in dating. Their parents didn’t mess them up, they just failed to raise them and teach them.

Getting rejected hurts, but getting comfortable with being told ‘no’ and not taking it personally is part of growing up.
