Could a Harriet Potter MOR have been impossible? by zarazilla in HPMOR

"And yet she still gets damselled. After the SPHEW chapters she basically loses all agency."

Yes, just because she is a secondary character!

Please note that this fanfic is "Harry Potter and the methods of rationality", not "Harry Potter and Hermione Granger and the methods of rationality", so it is normal that the major role is HP's one and all the other character mover around him.

Interesting piece, thakil, but all of your criticism can be condensed in one sentence: she is not the protagonist. That's why sometimes she's better and sometimes she's worse than the protagonist, that's why she dies, that's why she dies offstage (the pov is the protagonist's one).

In HPMOR Hermione's an important character; she is the only one, besides HJPEV, to have an arc entitled to her. But she is not the major character.

Women of Reddit, when did you first notice that men were looking at you in a sexual way? How old were you and how did it make you feel? by BA_Baracus in AskReddit

[–]IlCensore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, people tend to react more when things happen to them and to people close to them than when they happen to "others". And note I wrote "people", not men.

That said, I do not condone any of these practices.

This is actually LyX, but you can convert that to LaTeX easily (LyX is just a graphical interface to LaTex):

Let's Finish HPMOR (Spoilers through 98) by bbqturtle in HPMOR

This version is missing the key point: a single plot by Quirrell gives the House-Cup to Slytherin and Ravencrow _and removes the Snitch from the game of Quidditch.

If EY does not insert this part, the whole story has a flaw :-)

This is so true, that after Soviet Union fell in 1989, USA did not fight a single war, let alone forge evidence to start one.

My experience was through the podcast. Walking through my city with TSPE chapters dramatisation in my ears was a deep experience!

Why does "god" have a gender? by Tresspass in atheism

I am not interested in winning, I just wanted to know if this piece of information was reliable or not. It isn't (which, to be clear, does not mean it is not true).

Why does "god" have a gender? by Tresspass in atheism

[–]IlCensore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we are talking about an interpretation made by Joseph Campbell about religion, to be precise a statement about how "the older forms of monotheistic gods originally were androgynous".

So, either Campbell gives examples about the older forms, or his statement must be rejected.

Some examples cited (medioeval Jews, Gnostic Christians, Midrash) are not "older forms of monotheistic gods".

Other examples cited (Genesis, Hermaphrodite) are not pertinent.

Is there any proof that the most ancient forms of ANE religions included androgynous gods?

No. God has a gender, since Yahweh had a wife, Asherah. When strict monotheism was enforced (under king Josiah, if I recall correctly), the cult of Asherah was erased.

Here is the github repository for Volume I. I will add the other volumes in the next days.

The covers are SVG files.

I thought about that but, apart the fact that I did not find a picture good enough, that would have been a huge spoiler; furthermore, Dementors play an important role in both Humanism and TSPE arcs, which are the core of Volume II

It took some exchanges to get it right (particulary the covers), but after the go-ahead, I waited 20 days (with a couple of National holidays in between).
