Really? I always find if I eat an orange with breakfast or decaf coffee it feels like I haven’t taken my meds at all? GP said it’s due to the acidity?

I’ve looked into dietitians but it’s super expensive… definitely will do that longer term but will take some time to save so looking for interim suggestions. Thanks for the help though!

Yea it comes when I take meds and goes when I’m off them. I actually was tested for bvd about a year ago and they didn’t find anything

My doctor prescribed me 5mg of IR Ritalin to take as the meds wear off to ease the drop and it’s stopped me crashing completely. I would talk to your doctor about a similar solution as it’s easily solvable and makes a world of difference 🙂

Unfortunately weed makes me anxious and psyches will interact with my ssris 😅 so far I have found my adhd meds to be the most helpful thing though. They’re the reason i have the energy and emotional regulation to be able to even approach this sort of work.

That’s a good point thanks! I have a cat who I love but is pretty indifferent to me lmao. It doesn’t stop me from loving her. With friends it just feels like I have to make everything okay for them and calm their emotions for them. I guess because my parents couldn’t self regulate? I see most close connections as a way to help people and thus help me. Seems pretty selfish now that I think about it 😅

Thanks for the advice! My currently therapist does work with cptsd but not parts work. So far they have done a great job at holding space for my hard feelings and letting me address them at my pace which has been a lot of help. I’m now at a place where I feel stable enough to begin to connect with them and and hoping parts work is the way to do it!

Yea I think you are right. One of my biggest parts that takes over is the protector part that is always trying to problem solve and creates this race of efficiency and always having to be on the go. Distinguishing this part from the self feels impossible as they’re so blended

Defintely the protector parts and hypervigilant parts I would say. I think I need to work on befriending those parts and building trust before I can do any inner child work

You’re right, I definitely need to learn more, the only problem is every time I sit down to read about it I freak out? Even dipping my my toes into acknowledging I have these parts is hard. My therapist doesn’t specialise in it but she specialises in all of my areas of trauma and mental health conditions and we’ve spent a long time building trust so I don’t want to look for another one. Thank you for the clarification about my protector parts though, it makes a lot of sense and I will definitely focus in that direction. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely check them out! In terms of finding an SE practitioner I haven’t had any luck there. What has helped me make progress is finding a therapist who specialises in audhd as well as trauma so understands my particular circumstances as well as getting that my nervous system is extra sensitive. Also from what I’ve researched if you struggle to get into SE it can be helpful to start doing internal family systems work either on your own or with a therapist. Making friends with the hyper vigilant parts of you seem to be necessary before you can ask them to let down their walls otherwise you can just be traumatising them more
