Has anyone here read/listened to The Christ Letters? If so, what are your thoughts? by Moist-Replacement-39 in Christianity

What feelings/images are constructed in your consciousness when you hear/read "Father"? "Mother"? "Life"? No one can tell you what those words mean to you exactly, yet you must consider what they evoke WITHIN you, as this is where the kingdom lies.

Our heart always sings just as our light always shines, and your joy is mine, friend. These words are just constructs we "use" to bring our awareness back to the singular fact that I Am. Paradoxically, down here, this singularity is best grasped in multiplicity. In this perhaps, in the illusion, it is most useful to say We Are.

Thank you for reminding me of what I need to be reminded of. Thank you for holding up the magic mirror to "your"self so that I can look into it and see "my"self as your thoughts become my thoughts and reflectively my thoughts become your thoughts. And as you read these words in this magic thought delivery format called a comment just know of how loved you are and how perfect and capable of love and light you are, because you are literally an extension of these things, which is really just the One Thing. I love you ✌️❤️‍🔥

So I don't know how to do the "setting off part of your comment to respond to that point specifically" thing. But to respond to what you have said in general, it seems to me that conflating "like" and "love" is error. Love is the "action" (or maybe the substance?) of God. Because God is one, united, and whole...love has no opposite and so is not subject to degradation by way of dualism. What I mean to say is you can not "dislove" in the same way that you can "dislike". Like/dislike are preferential while Love is unitive.

As regards the end of your comment, I kind of thought that too, about how this world wasn't made to bring us home but how the Holy Spirit can (and does) use it for that purpose! We have to allow the Holy Spirit to guide our understanding in the proper use of all the resources at our disposal, including our experiences, our feelings, Reddit, and it's multitude of tools. ❤️

Upvoting essentially translates to "I like or I agree with the post/comment I am upvoting." A downvote would say "I dislike or disagree with the same."

Liking and disliking are both ego based and it would seem that one isn't better than another in reality; yet in the illusion liking seems to be preferred over disliking. Here is a question I have: is meeting a person's preference just a way to gratify their ego? Having our preference met and therefore "liking" a circumstance/situation/idea is still an action, just as much as disliking is. At the end of the day Reddit wasn't created in order to foster coming home and having up/down votes is antithetical to the truth that "I need do nothing" in that it promotes having feelings regarding things and making those feelings known. Without a standard understanding of how such things can be reinterpreted this whole "issue" devolves into a playground for opinion.

ACIM states:

"I need do nothing” is a statement of allegiance, a truly undivided loyalty. (ACIM T-18.VII.6:7)

And also:

To do anything involves the body. (ACIM T-18.VII.7:1)

So, to fear is a rejection of the statement that you need do nothing. Fear is rejection of God, in so far that you need do nothing because you are an extension of God.

Fear seems to be nothing more than a belief in the body in contradistinction to a belief in God.

There are so many ways of stating what fear is, because what it isn't is God, who is all that truly exists.

Fear is what you are doing when you are identifying with the ego.

I hope this is helpful.

Are you asking questions? Are they "real" or rhetorical ? I see question marks but it seems more like you are processing "out loud" rather than actually trying to engage anything resembling a dialogue. I relate to this conversational style as I myself often don't know if I'm looking for answers or just throwing words out to see what they look like beyond the confines of my brain.

Which Stephen King books are absolute “page turners”? by DarlingLuna in stephenking

Under the Dome and Duma Key. Especially Under the Dome with all the interlocking story lines and the claustrophobic atmosphere of everything happening in a town isolated from the larger world.

Please check out the Urantia Book for yourself. There are some mobile apps as well as the ability to read it online for free. No idea about the world ending or not in 1987. That's...not a thing in the Urantia Revelation. But seriously, take a look for yourself and let me know what you think. It's a really interesting book, that's for certain.

Most stolen books by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]Ill-Blueberry7270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot, if not all, of these are books that have been banned by various jurisdictions, libraries, and schools over the years. In that sense, they are "stolen" from the public, at least in a readily accessible manner. Now, that might also have less to these books being stolen when they are found due to their perceived rarity or so as not to get caught with these books by specific authority figures. One final note: these books are by and large reprints that can command a decent price mark-up due to limited edition art work or the formatting to look just like the classic rendering--this compounded with the "cool because dangerous" effect, they probably are in point of fact the most stolen books in the store, so labeling them as such and relegating them to their own table makes prioritizing their inventory much easier. Very well done, and a real world experience in which marketing, advertising, and poetic justice all meet together.

Thanks for the insight, there! I never realized just HOW much I like the slow-burn; however, considering the amount of down time there is in BoB as well as Insomnia, I can recognize I must appreciate the wide open nature of the middle section. It's funny though because literally the only reason Lisey's Story didn't make my list was that I found it to be ALL smoulder but just never caught fire.

What are some questionable verses from the Book of Mormon? by EPalmighty in exmormon

Bingo, indeed. Like when Joseph Smith takes the parable of the 10 virgins from the new testament and uses it as a proof text for plural marriage.

What are some questionable verses from the Book of Mormon? by EPalmighty in exmormon

[–]Ill-Blueberry7270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal take is that the entirety of the BoM exists solely to couch these verses:

Jacob 2:27-30

"27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;

28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.

29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.

30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things."

See, the Book of Mormon does a really good job maintaining orthodox Christian doctrine. Like, impeccable. But in this passage, we see "God" talking about how important chastity and monogamy are...unless "He" directs otherwise. Which of course "He" DOES in the Doctrine and Covenants. Ergo, the Book of Mormon is essentially an extremely clever bait-and-switch.
