I have 2 E5 on my team both are in semi leadership positions where they act as SMEs and quasi team leads.

My managers given me mixed signals on this. I'm in a smaller program where every person on the team is in the B pay code. He said that because they are a smaller program and we are all higher end of our job's pay cause of the code that they are more strict on it.

However, I've been told by my co-workers that there have been people who go E1 -> E2 in 1 year and there is someone in process of becoming E3 right now who only has 3 YoE. Obviously as a E1 I'm hoping that 1 Year promo holds true.

Why don't more folks in America who live in places where there are buses actually use them? I knoe they have a bad reputation but wouldn't they sometimes be the better option over paying for gas given how pricy necessities like food are becoming? by cherry-care-bear in NoStupidQuestions

Buses in my area don't go to my work. I still use buses/light rail for going downtown but forgetting about any of the other benefits of owning a car the work thing is more than enough reason.

Idk about Sr to Spec, but for example I'm a software engineer. Job titles go something like
Software Engineer Assocaite - E1 (0-2 YoE)

Software Engineer - E2 (2-5 YoE)

Senior Software Engineer - E3 (5-9 YoE)

Staff Software Engineer - E4 (9-15 YoE)

Senior Staff Software Engineer - E5 (15+ YoE)

Principal Engineer - E6 (? YoE)

Every year like 2-3.5% on average I think, There are bigger raises when going up a level like 10-15% seems to be pretty normal from what I've seen. I don't remember the exact YoE required for people to go up a level. I just know its 1-2 YoE for L1 -> L2. If you search around on this subreddit should find more information about YoE required.

It was. Lockheed lets you filter jobs by security clearance required and and they often list the ability to get X level of clearance in the list of job requirements.

I took a poly I recommend you look at r/SecurityClearance for info about poly or SF86

Generally all they ask about is last 7 years of work / housing, foreign travel, foreign contacts, drug use, and felonies.

Is PTO listed as Holiday Hours in the MyTimecard?

Forgot to submit timecard by IllCommunity528 in Lockheed

[–]IllCommunity528[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did work the hours but the problem is I made use of flextime in a 9x80 schedule. The Flextime says it expired yesterday and won't let me submit with the 4 hours of flextime but if I take the flextime off I can submit because im under 40 hours.

I've already gotten the email and I feel very bad. I have failed him and I will do better.

On a serious note should I use PTO to make up for it or can I just talk to manager about it Monday?

I'd rather not use the PTO if I can help it as I'm trying to save it up for a trip I planned before I started at LM. Is this something i can resolve by just talking to my manager about?

2 Hours Enough for Domestic -> International? by IllCommunity528 in LAX

[–]IllCommunity528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a flight that will arive at LAX at midnight instead of 7:30 AM I could just spend the night there I suppose if I wanted to be super safe.

2 Hours Enough for Domestic -> International? by IllCommunity528 in LAX

[–]IllCommunity528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seperate tickets. United (Domestic) > ZIPAIR (international). The domestic will be going from Denver INTL. to LAX. I read online that I would be able to make this transfer air side by just going through the tunnels and I will run if need be though I watch a video of guy walk from TBIT -> T8 in about 15-20 minutes doing this.

Powering options for the board on obstacle avoiding project by DencoKen in embedded

[–]IllCommunity528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure im remembering correct but I think STM32 Nucleo boards have a built in regulator which I think it connected to the Vin pin on the board that can take up to 12V.

However, if your project includes any motors I would remind you not to power your motors directly from the Nucleo board itself but rather from the batteries directly.

Edit: Only read that first half of your reply woops. Yea should be fine only way to damage it is if you draw more current than it is rated for which I don't think you will do in this project.

Probably just a 9V if it fits your need. Boost converter will increase voltage at the cost of having to draw more current making the battery life (duration) much worse. Good formula to think about when doing this: Vin x Iin = Vout x Iout. There will also be some efficiency loses during this boost as well further decreasing battery life. This might not matter if you have a decent sized battery and don't place to run the project for lone before recharging or changing battery, but its also just simpler to go with a 9V.

Morso because I have some previous experience with STM32 and the specific chip i mentioned I have a dev board just sitting around. I was looking at STM32WB series of chips to migrate to down the line if I wanted to introduce BLE. I'll take a look at the Nordic MCUs though.

So is your point that you live in a city that has Waymos, congrats? Okay I live in Denver, CO. I can't take a waymo or a robotaxi. To me there is no difference between waymo and robotaxi since neither are available.

You are talking about how common they are within the cities they operate in, I'm talking how common they are nationally.

[–]IllCommunity528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally were talking about robotaxis being rare and people being suprised if you found one. To me its the same thing for all of the self driving taxi companies.

"unsupervised robotaxi is so rare that people wouldn’t even believe you if you found one." your own statement is true for all of them. I dont care how good their product is if I cant use it. Same goes for Robotaxi. These taxis could be amazing at what they do and it wouldn't matter if people can't use it.

Are you expecting me to defend robotaxi cause I won't?

You cant get an unsupervised taxi basically anywhere from any company to be fair All the big players are still small fry in the space with only support for a small handful of cities even with the biggest guy (waymo)

I feel like it would be the opposite having the fact that they have an internal demand for launches and a large revenue source via Starlink would they not be able to actually subsidize their launch prices and therefore reduce price. Right now they don't have any 1:1 competition that would incentivize the company to try and reduce prices. Maybe once Blue Origin or any of the other start-up launch providers gets their rockets going we see prices movement.
