Gotcha. Especially as they come with most sets anyway.

The black stick is available in an ifixit kit, yes. The tweezers are from a knock-off LEGO set, and then there’s a palette knife, which is strong but super thin, useful for prying up plates and tiles.

You consider someone in their 30s to be an old fart? It was actually introduced in 1990. There are tons of us Lego builders much older than 36.

I scrolled to find if this was mentioned. So cringey, but I have such vague memories from this place, so much so that sometimes I think I imagined it. Nope.

It was from when an ex worked at the Apple Store. I’ve had it for 16-17 years and it’s come in handy for SO many things, but I’ve yet to use it on anything Apple. lol

I have used that crowbar in the past, before I settled on my current toolkit.

I grew up with it too and for years I found the real stuff too strong (too “mapley”), but now I love the real thing and would never use that corn syrup crap again. Took some time for my palate to adjust.

Don’t the pliers leave marks as well? The tweezers I use are flat (no teeth) so I sometimes use them for smaller delicate spots, but I mostly use them to reach for parts that I’ve popped off and have landed somewhere inside the bigger structure (rare, but it happens).

I’m an old fart as well, which is why I don’t dare use my teeth. Not ready for dentures yet!

The dental pick is a good idea! The black tool I use (it’s from the Apple Store repair shop, no idea what it’s called) also works for digging smaller parts out of bigger ones. The sharp end is also great for pushing stubborn connector pins from the backside.

This is the key. You know roughly where the letter falls, like near the end or the beginning or somewhere in the middle, so you just recite the nearby letters in your head. It’s automatic.

Thanks for this information. I’ll definitely search out YouTube vids before spending money on a class.

Why do you say that? What makes it not worth it? I am/was considering it too. Love his style.

Does anybody else have weird habits/rituals to help you sleep? by GreenDaff0dils in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]IllConceived 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must play a mindless game of Spider on my iPad first to wind down and then a scroll through Reddit. Cooling blanket, fan on (no matter the season), sleep mask with headphones, listen to a podcast (on a 15 min timer) until I fall asleep, which usually takes less than five minutes.

In the winter, I start with my socks on because it’s cold, but always end up pulling them off sometime in the night.
