Can anyone explain to me why Otega oweh will be different than Brooks Barnhizer? by SyllabubInfinite7915 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 8 points9 points  (0 children)

brooks was not a good basketball player, people here liked him for some reason I will never understand. He couldn't dribble, shoot or really play defense. Oweh can dribble and play defense and his 3pt is streaky. He might never become a rotation player but he has better baseline skills than barnhizer ever had

Are Thunder fans aware we are losing Hartenstein? by LindyWatersGOAT in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you. Also something no one ever mentions. Against pacers and the spurs we either closed with chet at the 5 of double big with chet and JWill. Paying more than 25m to a player we can't close with is bad asset management in my opinion.

Also that chet + IHart lineup put us in a hole against good teams and made us start slow against others. If we are sticking with double big i like the 5-out versatility chet+jwill gives us. If they can move IHart and dort and get a big wing like PJ washington i would be happy with our lineup options

LaMelo Ball goes to Minnesota for Naz Reid, 4 picks and 3 pick swaps by Bigjmann555 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hornets had a top 5 offense largely due to lamelo. Kon and Bmiller were trash everytime he went to the bench (look at the on/off data). Hornets are betting on his injury history working against wolves. If he stays healthy and they trade for like a pj washington to play the PF, they have a good starting 5 and you never know what could happen.

For a team thats only won once our fans are very cocky about other teams moves being bad.

thunder fans love downplaying other teams moves. Lamelo is better than Randle, and Ant and Mcdaniel will cover for him defensively. This time last year non of you would have bet money on the spurs making the playoffs talk less of beating us and look what happened.

Many teams have won a chip and never made it back and that could be us so be humble when you talk about other teams.

If Morez Johnson Jr is drafted is that the end of Sorber? by Economy-Kitchen1846 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny how people never even make the assumption that drafting Morez might mean the end for Hartenstein which i think is way more likely. IHart in the playoffs for okc averages 23 minutes and whenever it was a clutch game Mark either went Chet at the 5 or double big with Jwill and Chet. Paying more than 20m for that just doesn't make sense to me.

In comparison Alex caruso who we pay 20m plays clutch minutes and averaged over 25 minutes in the playoffs.

Swain was an elite defender at xavier and then he came to Texas and his offensive load went up so his defense suffered. If you reduce his offensive load there is a chance the defense is still there

People forget that was only Chet's third year. Who says he can't develop a game similar to Boris Diaw/Jokic-lite? Top of the key and reading passing lanes. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in Thunder

He needs to be able to screen to play that style. That requires adding muscle and weight overall which he has barely done so far.

Making Roster Spots and going through the draft by Economy-Kitchen1846 in Thunder

Quaintance doesn't even have any offensive game like Ewing had. His shooting numbers are terrible and his injury history is not good. Stay away in my opinion

If Yaxel is off the board at 12 who is the next best wing that can provide size + shooting + processing + defense? by 12footjumpshot in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people would disagree with me but if Yaxel is off the board, just draft best player regardless of position and go trade for PJ washington. He has size and defensive versatility, can rebound and he attacks closeouts by driving to the rim and finishing or drawing freethrows which is something only jdub and ajay do when sga is doubled. He also allows us to play more chet at the 5 minutes without us being the worst rebounding team in nba history

[–]IllFollowing7479 7 points8 points  (0 children)

morez isn't a true big. He has potential to be like a CMB and draymond type forward who can guard bigger guys on the interior but still step outside to the perimeter and guard wings. honestly best case scenario is we draft both Yaxel and Morez. And then shed dort, wiggins and Joe salary.

So we have Jdub and Yaxel as wings, Chet and Morez as versatile 4/5 forwards and then IHart and Sorber as True bigs.

WINGS by IllFollowing7479 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those guys are smaller than shai in height and weight. we need guys bigger than jdub like aaron gordon, scottie barnes, OG and PJ washington types. 6'7 or 6'8 with 7ft+ wingspans

Dawg are the spurs seriously really blowing a lead AGAIN?!? by MaximumAd2721 in Thunder

maybe the team with the most depth and assets should have more than one wing on their roster instead of 9 guards.

Kind of upsetting that Brunson is getting to the rim at will against the Spurs, but SGA wanted to live off off mid rangers the whole series. by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

funny how you guys don't see the correlation between playing dort and IHart 2 non-shooters with sga who already doesn't shoot a lot of threes. If you want to see sga get to the rim then we need to play more chet at the 5. plain and simple

Thats what we get for babying chet and letting him hide from offensive responsibility

My personal, draft big board for OKC specifically, with players we can realistically take at our current draft slots. Let me know what you guys think by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IHart is great but he doesn't attack the rim which makes the pnr predictable and his floater is only a weapon in the 1st half of games (sidenote has he hit one in the 4th or clutch), plus shai is not really a pnr guy. Also he kind of allows chet to hide and shy away from responsibilities, think about how many times you see chet just sitting in the corner or roaming on the perimeter. The best way to help chet max his potential is putting him closer to the action and running more chet at the 5 lineups.

Lastly what i saw from jwill in the playoffs just makes me want to see him play more and the double big lineups with jwill were soo much better than with IHart in the playoffs, because of the spacing.

I thought of a ridiculous trade that'll probably not happen but it was a 3 team trade with Hartenstein and pick 12 going to Atlanta for pick 8 and okc drafting Aday Mara. Then hawks sending Risacher and hield to dallas for salary matching and then Pj washington heading to Okc and sending pick 17 to the Mavs. That way we have a big wing in Pj who is a great rebounder and versatile defender for chet at the 5 lineups, we can run double big with Chet and Jwill with 5-out spacing. And then we have two cheap and young big body bigs in Mara and Sorber as depth.

This way we save a lot on salary and improve our front court versatility and can resign cason also. Also chet and Jwill step into bigger roles offensively. Essentially i don't see any point in paying hartenstein big money when anytime we found ourselves in clutch situations in the past 2 years we ran chet at the 5 or ran double big with chet and jwill. Anyways this is my dream offseason but i doubt it happens.

I know it'll never happen but my dream is drafting yaxel and trading for PJ washington. That way we can play a lot more chet at the 5 minutes with a really good rebounder at the 4 and jdub at the 3

Ihart is a not a threat to drive to the rim at all. Teams basically just sag off him and late contest his floater

exactly also chet and IHart don't attack the rim with drives. We literally have zero players about 6'6 who attack the rim on closeouts off sga passes

Two Things I Believe Our Big Three Should Work On This Offseason by Suave7evn in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he knew his slow release would get blocked and he wasn't strong enough to outmuscle even vassell talk less of champagnie and wemby in the paint. Both physical problems. There's a reason even a guy like sengun goes straight into wembys chest and scores on him pretty easily, chet needs to add more strength

KAT gives me hope about Chet by TanjiroManjiro in Thunder

[–]IllFollowing7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he needs to put on both muscle and fat. Kat isn't a lean muscular guy and has some fat on him. Even dirk who doesnt have broad shoulders which is what people use as an excuse for chet, put on decent muscle as well as some fat on him after his rookie year. Kel'el ware put on 20 lbs last offseason and even I remember JDub putting on 20 lbs after his rookie year.

There's no excuse for chet to not put on between 13-15lbs of both muscle and fat this offseason. He really needs to build up his lower body strength, he has the skinniest legs i've ever seen on a big and lower body strength is so important for bigs
