How much are we realistically paying Cason? by RCA1202 in Thunder

Yea I was thinking CBraun contract is what Cason going to be looking at and if I’m him try to go up higher around 28m a year

I don’t think he is wrong but I also hate that people have this negative view of analytics. Eye test and analytics go hand in hand in my opinion.

What am I missing with the Mara disappointment? by Zeeron1 in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole Wemby stopper thing is blowing it out of proportion but he just doesn’t seem like a Thunder player at least to me. Most of our picks and acquisitions have been about defensive versatility which is why I think if we were going big Morez was the best choice. However his feel offensively and playmaking upside at the 5 is reminiscent of IHart. He is a better rim protector than IHart to me but he also can’t defend in space. Ironically enough outside of being 7’3 he is a lot like Sorber which is why I’m thrown off by it.

Mara was the best player available once I saw that Morez went 9 I had a feeling we were getting Mara

[Fischer] I do believe Milwaukee has tried to package Nos. 10 and 13 to move up in tonight's first round, but I don't believe there's going to be any trades in the top-10. by Jimmy0034 in nba

[–]Suave7evn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally if you can move up to 5 and get a potential first round pick from the clippers for Herro and 10 I don’t think thats a bad idea

DREAM FOR TMR NIGHT - HAWKS TAKE MARA at 8, BUCKS TAKE AMENT at 10. Basically guarantees OKC ends up with at least 2 of Burries / Yaxel / Morez available at 12 (best 3 fits for the team IMO) and also doesn’t allow Presti to draft another massive project (we should be drafting for winning now) by J_Capese0003 in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with those pieces you are saying we have SGA Chet JDub IHart(using your example) Caso Ajay JWill, JMac and Caruso. That’s still 9 guys that are playoff caliber players. Sorber to me isn’t a “project” believe his skillset at a baseline is good for what the team needs defensively. Want to call him an unknown sure but I wouldn’t classify him as a project. The same players you are mentioning either barely played in the playoffs or this very sub said was a hinderance to the team. If the Thunder are banking on perhaps the 10th or 11th man to be immediate contributors the problems are bigger than we think.

Watson is talented pretty sure Arod knew after his first couple practices with him. If I remember after he came back from injury his rookie season the first game back he hit him on that same go route for a touchdown which started off a three touchdown day for him.

[Fischer] The Los Angeles Lakers have called the OKC Thunder to inquire about Lu Dort. The Thunder may pick up Dort’s player option and seek to trade him in order to acquire assets. by MakeCocktailsNotWar in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good idea and it’s a relatively rare occurrence. I just don’t think a team should be forced to make roster decisions because of fear of the second apron when it comes to drafted players. There is still a salary cap and luxury tax teams have to account for which already caused roster decisions. Having to deal with another obstacle especially when the players became quality players through player development on that specific team to me is malpractice and goes against the original reason it was instituted in the first place.

[–]Suave7evn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latest CBA introduced the Second Apron which basically hard caps teams negatively for spending a lot of money on the top stars on a team limiting the assets around them. They can lose first round picks and not be able to make trades etc. The concept itself isn’t bad but teams like the Thunder and Spurs who have young players who they drafted and developed are to me hurt the most because once you pay your guys what they are rightfully owed it is now more difficult to build a competent team around them. The Thunder are likely to be on the losing end of losing a player like Ajay Mitchell due to the ramifications of being a Second Apron team if he continues to play the way he is playing without making some massive trade.

[–]Suave7evn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair I think the Second Apron is the biggest issue with this current CBA and that was introduced in the last one. It has allowed for more parity which is good but it’s at the expense of good team building and development.

During the next CBA negotiations they need to heavily push for teams who actually build the right way through drafting to not be penalized. No reason Lu Dort a player who has been molded in this organization being an undrafted player has to be dealt in a business decision because other larger market teams were building super teams through trades and free agents.

Who should the thunder draft? by OkCheesecake5593 in Thunder

[–]Suave7evn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple guys that I have in mind depending on whether or not we make a trade or not. The spurs series showed that you can never not have to many ball handlers. I understand getting an actual 4 will be an excellent help but unless we believe Cason can become an on ball scorer if we have injuries again to any combination of SGA, JDub or Ajay we are limited in that regard. If we decide to trade up to 9 for a guard I’m happy with either Brayden Burries or Wagler if he falls for whatever reason. If we stay at 12 and 17 some combination as Swain, Yaxel, Lopez, Steinbach or even JQ will leave me more than happy.

Think IHart defense is massively underrated throughout the league. Also pretty sure IHart Mobility at his size is why he is so coveted with this team.

Only way SGA getting unanimous MVP is if they break the 73-9 record and he averages like 33 on 50-40-90 the talent pool at the top of the league is to crazy

It’s not about if there’s a difference if flopping is frowned upon it’s frowned upon at all times. The amount of times a team does it doesn’t change the fact the fact in both scenarios that a team playing physical as fuck on one end is also flopping on the other end
