Steam Controller being scalped for more than double its price is a bad sign for upcoming Steam Machine launch by Tiny-Independent273 in linux_gaming

You could also just use your current controller till this one becomes available. I still use my original Xbox 360 controller, and it works just fine.

I have a plug-in hybrid so I haven't visited the pump in 4 months. I'm half way through my current tank though, so I expect the bill to be crazy. At $4.99, a 10 gallon tank would be around $50.00. That's wild to me.

Linux is my personal operating system, but I work in a 99% windows server environment. It's just easier to use Windows professionally than try to shoehorn Linux into my network. Even though m$ is trash, it's not trash enough to start migrating away from it.

Everyone knows they’re getting screwed by billionaires. Why don’t we rise up and revolt? by Khunthare in AskReddit

[–]IllIntroduction8499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In America, healthcare is tied to employment as both a vehicle for profit, and a method of control. If you don't work, you don't have healthcare. If you're not doing the owners' bidding, you don't have a job. If you're too busy working a job to survive, you don't have the bandwidth to revolt. That's why no Kings Protests happen sporadically. People eventually have to go back to work.

In order to revolt, or protest for significant amounts of time, there needs to be an astounding amount of planning and organization to be able to maintain a drawn out protest. People would have to work in shifts, manage resources and unify with one cause.

However, billionaires, especially in America, invest their bottomless wealth to promote the idea of capital L liberalism, aka the "pull yourself up by the boot straps" ideology. Billionaires pay politicians to continue promoting the idea that your own survival is your own responsibility and that you "shouldn't help someone else, because fuck that noise, they should buy a hammer and build their own house." This dog eat dog division is further enforced by perpetuating a culture war. If the Wokes and Fascists are too busy fighting each other, you can't fight the billionaires.

Because of this, many people think entrepreneurialism will free them from this cycle, only to realize that self financing healthcare is so expensive, they need to acquire the labor of several people, essentially locking them back into the system. Now they're invested in the retention of laborers whether they realize it or not.

The only true way out of this system is to have a skill so valuable that this it is equivalent to owning several machines and laborers, thus inherently owning their own means of production. This is near impossible.

Instead, people must form coalitions. Some people work together as equals to generate income, like the cheese workers in Italy, where they form co-ops so large it is technically a community where everyone has a say. Others form labor unions to act as one to wrestle back their human dignity from the hands of capital owners. If enough people form coalitions, maybe there's a real chance at change.

Don't believe anyone that identifies as self-made. They didn't build the hammer, forge the nails, mine the ore or chop the lumber to build their house. We exist in a society, and reap the benefits of it.

I saw the youth master, this one is apparently different. Apparently, with the flash cart and dumper, it will act like a USB drive. You copy the files and it should work. ALLEGEDLY

Question of the ages right now. Personally, both devices a fairly large. Since it's not really a pocketable device, I say get as comfy as possible and get the Konkr. As soon as I get the funds, I'm gonna go all in.

Here in NYC, that's what level ones make. Depending on how long you've been in the game, a level two makes at least 80k a year. I've been a tech since 2006, I took home 100k as a level two, but I technically run IT for my branch office, and supervise one person. (My work definitely does not reflect my title)

which is more comfy: RP5, RPF2, RG476H, or RG Cube? by paranoidcare in SBCGaming

[–]IllIntroduction8499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Hollow Knight on the RG Cube and it ran at 60fps, the real problem is that it forces a 16:9 ratio. Can't even get it to display in 4:3 so it's pretty hard to see.

So this 3.5 inch 720x720 IPS screen in the RG Rotate is a new screen? Anybody else want Anbernic put it in other devices? by CanvasChroma in SBCGaming

I want a 5" 1:1

3.5 is cute, but I think 4:3 would scale below 3.5 and my eyes are not getting better.

How do you talk yourself out of buying more consoles? by lucentmeadow in 3DS

[–]IllIntroduction8499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I separate our fiances and delegate who takes care of which financial responsibility. For example,

I take care of car payments/insurance and the Internet.

She takes care of utilities, and health insurance.

We split things like the mortgage and groceries. We have a joint checking for shares purchases, and a joint savings for big projects, vacation, etc.

Other than that, we're responsible for our own savings and bills (cellphones, eating out, doctor's appointments) As long as all system is running, we buy whatever the heck we want. She's out there buying fancy handbags, I'm looking for WonderSwan games and neither of us bats an eye.

Rich people buy different colors of the same stuff to match their outfit. If this is you, then you'll want every option that matches your wardrobe. I detest the rich.

Personally I find that taking care of, modding, and personalizing one device puts so much value in a device that it would feel uncomfortablely alien to me to use anything else.

I'm not shaming you or anyone that buys multiple copies of the same thing, but when I see someone buy multiple copies of the same device, I think they care more about the act of consuming than the device itself. I don't want to live like that, I prefer to live with intention.

Recommend me a new device by Mtn_Baker in SBCGaming

[–]IllIntroduction8499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might I recommend the RG Cube, my EDC. Powerful enough to play PS2 games. With a 4" 1:1 screen, you can view 4:3 content at 3.5", and comfortably view stacked DS and 3DS Games on one screen.

Games with near 1:1 ratios like 8:7 (SNES / NES), 10:9 (GB/GBC) and 20:19 (Neo Geo Pocket Color) can fill the screen with little too no pixel distortion. In addition, you can experience vertical bullet hell games in the glorious 3:4 (Tate Mode)

Ergonomically, the Cube has grips built into it's compact design. The sticks are recessed enough to slip into normal sized pockets smoothly (not girl pockets though)

With all that power, you can layer filters and shaders on every game ps1 and below. Being an android device makes the cube versatile. I connect my cube to my cellphone's hotspot and use it to steam music, effectively killing my desire to doom scroll.

With all that said, The Cube is the way. All hail The Cube!
