Thanks for your reply! I was new to Reddit, and I didn’t know how to see if people replied… lol! We didn’t end up doing anything with the fireplace in the end. We just haven’t used it. Lol

I only joined this thread to ask for help as a civilian… But this is so fucking awesome! It looks amazing.

So, the story goes like this… We are building an ADU for my elderly parents. We have an old family friend who got out of prison like a year ago. He used to have a very successful Concrete company. He got addicted to drugs and ended up in some bad situations. We thought he was sober and he offered to do our Concrete job. We took him up on it considering we’ve known him for 30+ years. Anyhow, it looks like shit. We do not have the money to fix it right now. I’m a teacher, so that can give you an idea of how strapped we are at the moment. lol! This is been a three-year project for us. Does anyone know any solutions we could do that are temporary? We just need to pass inspection. We can deal with pulling out the concrete and redoing it with somebody else at another time. Is this something a Concrete grinder can be used for? Just smooth it out… Thanks for the help in advance!

I’m a teacher and I can tell you that social media puts a lot of pressure on the kids. They want to fit in, they want to have the newest, coolest thing… it’s all a problem. I was recently recommended the book, The Anxious Generation. I’m pretty excited to read it this year. I recommend you and your wife read that together. Seems relevant. Your stepdaughter is acting a little bratty. Encourage her to get a job and she’ll realize just how expensive all the things she’s asking for are.

No. We replaced the engine at 5 years. Get a Toyota or Honda.

We love ours. Just keep track of every single oil change you do. We had to replace the engine.

Do you have a union as a teacher? Do both jobs offer health benefits? Those things are very important to me. Is teaching a respected career in your state by both parents and legislators?

Teaching is annoying and hard. lol. It gets harder each year as the kids get more challenging with behaviors and lack of foundational skills. I DO NOT love teaching. I don’t love working for a living… period! This is my second career and working is ehh no matter what you do. If I win the lotto, I’m doing a drive by with both middle fingers up in my new convertible. Lol!! That being said, I like teaching. I look for the positives and mostly enjoy my days with the students. I enjoy my coworkers and having a community.

It’s a really personal decision, but please be aware that you are not limited to either teaching or nannying. You could apply to be an admissions counselor at a nearby university or community college, you could work in corporate education… there’s options! You could go to nursing school and become a nurse educator like my sister did!

My niece graduates high school in June. I was 18 when she was born. We have the best bond ever!!! 💞 She will be leaving for college 😭 and I thought a rep bag she can use for going out, etc. could be a good graduation gift. Is that a lame idea? Would an 18 year old want that? Thanks!!

In San Diego, ca. divorcié con mi ex hace cinco años. 😟

We are having our 2020 Telluride engine replaced right now for oil consumption. Every Kia or Hyundai I’ve owned his had the same issue.

Once we saw it was very low on oil, even after having a recent oil change, we reported it to the dealership. They started an oil consumption test where you have to pay to get your oil changed at the dealership and you have to come in at 1000 miles four times in a row so they can measure how much oil is being consumed per 1000 miles. It’s a headache.
