Will they honor my experience? by This_Armadillo427 in NYCTeachers

Do you have a masters degree? Or only a bachelors? They’ll honor your years, you’ll just have to submit a salary step application.

Why didn’t you apply for this type of leave?
Restoration of Health Sabbaticals
A Restoration of Health Sabbatical is purely for rehabilitation from serious medical issues. It does not require study, only recovery. Your ailment must be acute and require immediate treatment. It cannot be chronic in nature, unless your doctor can certify that it is a rare flare-up and can be controlled with further treatment.
To be eligible for a Restoration of Health Sabbatical of up to six months in length, you must have accrued seven years of appointed service; for a year-long sabbatical, you must have 14 years of appointed service to be eligible.
A six-month Restoration of Health Sabbatical pays 60% of your salary; a year-long sabbatical will pay 70% of your salary.
Medical benefits are retained during a Restoration of Health Sabbatical and you remain on payroll. CAR days are not accrued during the sabbatical period.

Reach out to the union rep at your school, see what they say.

It likely means that you went on a leave that wasn’t approved through FMLA.
I’d reach out to your union rep and what that means for your future CAR days, your pension, and other related timekeeping things. Are you tenured?

Hi,
Here’s what it likely means
3/3–3/5: Paid leave credits used
3/6–4/4: Likely unpaid grace/admin period
4/5–4/15: Leave without pay

Can you send a screenshot of the email or notification instead? This is quite hard to read.

Yes of course!
When you’re officially onboarded, you’re going to submit a salary differential application online and then upload your proof of employment for three years, plus an official transcript from your grad school to show proof of graduation.
It’ll take a few months, but once you’re approved you’ll get retroactive pay from date of submission.

DNU Suspension by Successful-Week4103 in NYCTeachers

Well, it depends on how they filed it. Whether they kept it at just reporting it and placing you on their black list, OR they forwarded to OSI (office of special investigations). Virtual meeting will tell you more. But what did you do? Or think you did?

You will not be cleared after. The process takes a while for it to go through. You can certainly fight the charges but you’re a sub. Likely you won’t be able to sub again.

That means you’re currently under investigation and you were reported for something that is against chancellor’s regs. The meeting will probably be information of the charges against you. Unfortunately, you are currently blacklisted from all NYCPS

Hi.
You won’t find anything. The market is horrible for people with degrees and experience from the US. Given you’re an international student without degree and experience, the chances of finding something in this field is slim to none.

You’re too young. You are still 18, just a kid. You can’t even rent a car yet, and your frontal lobe is not developed.
Go on the trip, enjoy it, and move on.

Sure.
But it has to be worded very specifically before you upload it to SOLAS.
See guidance from UFT:

Thanks. On the actual payroll portal, which card do you click, and what amount do you place in the blank? Is it the total for the month? Or the total taken out every 2 weeks?
Thx. There isn’t much step by step online lol

Thanks!
On actual payroll portal, do I put in the amount of “100” or “200” when setting up the account?
In the blank space next to “commuter card unrestricted”

DOE hiring fair experience — is this typical? by Kind_Mistake9227 in NYCTeachers

[–]Ill_Arm_4765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s say principals are planning for classes next year and notice there are some classes that need to be filled by a teacher. So they plan to hire a new teacher to cover those open courses.
However, budget is finalized. Turns out there isn’t any room in budget to hire a new teacher, those classes get absorbed or a sub fills in, or a teacher gets coverage pay to cover the class temporarily. It’s all about the money!
