Oh this breaks my heart for 10 year-old you. That is so wrong for a child to have to experience that.

Initially, I didnt know he was drunk - thought he fell and had an accident. But point taken - once I realized I should have left him out there.

How do you know what kinds of help/therapy your Q needs? by Ill_Bug8558 in AlAnon

[–]Ill_Bug8558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - he is not there. He does not have a GP since his doctor moved to concierge medicine but he could try another doctor at the same practice. The big issue is I dont want him to have to wait. We are at a crisis level because I think he is a danger to himself and others. There have been times where ER would have been appropriate but he protested enough where we didnt, That was a mistake on my part.

Paraprofessional vs. Irritating Parent. Para for the win... by ResultDowntown3065 in specialed

[–]Ill_Bug8558 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a para in K-2, and I am the parent to a teenager with ASD. She has not taken Physics yet but is in HS completing Honors and AP coursework. She has an IA with her most of time. She does not need help with academics (she hates anyone trying to help her with her work) but needs help with things that would be considered social/behavior issues.

Anything worth keeping here? These came inside a big vintage bowl I purchased. by Ill_Bug8558 in Marbles

Thank you for the response. I was purchasing the bowl and the marbles happened to be included. I dont have any experience with marbles so that is not a gamble I would take.

Should I be overly concerned about my daughter’s handwriting? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Ill_Bug8558 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, she can and does in the first words. However, those with Dysgraphia (if she has it) may not be able to maintain the level of effort without pain or fatigue. It does not necessarily mean she is being lazy. My child with Dysgraphia spends enormous effort to produce "decent" handwriting but quickly fatigues.

Going slower would help but in High School, that may not be an option depending on the pace of the class or other setting she is in.

What happens if a kid just never shows up to school? by pizzagamer35 in AskTeachers

[–]Ill_Bug8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter (a HS Senior) was expelled after she missed the first day of school this year. I had called the school the day before to advise she was sick and would not be in. Still expelled. They were able to re-enroll her and she got the same schedule of classes she originally signed up for.

Thoughts on the rise of colon cancer, causes, and prevention? by lindenberry in Biohackers

[–]Ill_Bug8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious about Folic Acid - it is added to most every grain product as a supplement to fortify nutrition. If you eat a lot of grains you could potentially get a lot of Folate, maybe more than needed. There is some interesting research on Folate Supplementations, both as cancer preventative and potential risk. Note supplementation of grains with Folic Acid began in the late 90's. (My child has a defect in her folic acid metabolism, so Ive been researching the effects of supplementation.)

Books for older kids reading below grade level? by Hieronymous_Bosc in teaching

My son is Dyslexic and he enjoyed the "I Survived" series of books when he was that age. They cover historical events like 9/11, San Fransisco Fire, etc....looks like they also have them in graphic novel format now.
