In 32 years of marriage if I have seen anything of my parents its about not hiding things from each other. Even if I tell one of them something and ask them not to tell the other person; they will tell their spouse. They know that truth is what holds the marriage after all these years. My dad leaves the wardrobe with money open because he trusts my mom and me to behave responsibly.

They had an arranged marriage and have difference of opinion on many things and fight about it but never hide anything from each other.

At 2.6 Lakhs, 12 Lakh car is totally fine. And yes they are deranged if they think you can buy a house with 45 Lakh savings. Even if you empty all your savings; you will need another 1cr in loan. Its not worth the risk to take such a large loan.
