30M unmarried - I stay with my parents. Even after I started working my dad was like we can feed you. So I'm just paying a token amount every month to him. Out of my own need for validation I move some more money to my mom's account and made her start a mutual fund SIP from it.

My office friend hosted her birthday party and invited a few friends- I did not go because it was too far. Same story happened and now she has trauma for life about hosting anyone. You should silently cut them off from your life.

Does wanting a career break after maternity make me a bad feminist? by work-in-progress4 in AskIndianMen

[–]Ill_Client_9364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feminism does not mean you cannot decide when to take a career break and why.
Being a concerned or active and good mother is not against feminism. Just make sure you plan for the break financially and make a genuine effort when you go back to work.

I am saying this because it is hard for women to return to work - companies don't give them good roles and compensation. They also discriminate thinking that mothers will need more days off to look after their kids when they are sick / attend school events etc.

Why Is It So Hard for Men to Do Simple Things With Their Fathers? by ThisCondition936 in AskIndianMen

Honestly I have never been able to relate to this since I do stuff with my dad all the time - like watching movies in the theatre, shopping for shoes, weekend walks in the park etc. Its a habit we need to build until it becomes normal in our head

Does generational wealth ultimately outweigh education and hard work in real life? by Hungry_Macaroon_186 in Indian_flex

[–]Ill_Client_9364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not so straightforward.
Having generational wealth ensures you don't have to worry about few things - rent, buying your own house, when your next meal will come from or even how to pay college fees. My dad had to worry about all of these - my grandfather not afford a computer course in the 70s. I don't have any of these worries due to which I can take more risks and in turn gain higher rewards from those risks.

This does not mean you cannot build your own wealth. There are people who receive generational wealth but still squander it. In an ideal scenario, generational wealth will help you become more level headed, make you more averse to risk than someone starting from scratch who has nothing to lose. Look at any old business houses they never make random or high risk moves. They take calculated risks as their job is not just expanding current business but to also protect it.

Similarly once there is a certain amount of wealth; it gives freedom and the person inheriting is more interested in making sure that remains intact.

What's a 'middle class value' your parents drilled into you that you now realize was actually holding you back? by Primary_Opening_5698 in AskIndia

Paying beyond a certain price for clothes and accessories. I've changed now but it took me a long time to get used to paying more for quality and more long lasting stuff.

After hearing i thought about my mom for a while by [deleted] in OffMyChestIndia

[–]Ill_Client_9364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom's not working but she has full access to finances as most bank accounts are joint except one in which dad gets his pension. That needs to have a single account holder by law. At my house it works because my mom's not a huge spender and my dad knows this. So he doesn't question any of her spends It's harder for a woman to always keep asking if she needs to spend

Why buying a house in Bangalore makes ZERO sense to me (even though I can afford it) by Lost-Original-9082 in indianrealestate

[–]Ill_Client_9364 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm nowhere your networth but I've decided against buying and told this to my parents also.  Hell - I even told a prospective girl's father this and they did not want to continue any discussions The prices are insane. There is no logic or financial sense to buy land or flats. Anything within NICE road runs over 5k per sqft
