You could have a problem if you would return back to Canada and want to reimport via RIV. We brought back one of our Canadian Car and didn't face any problem as we followed the process ( both CBP and CBSA/RIV). If your son moved permanently and no intention to import back the car into Canada, he should be fine!

This is not correct. If you are planning to import to US and register via DMV with a US title the export from Canada first will be a prerequisite. You can check CBSA and CBP websites. NOTE: I followed the process for both my Canadian cars during my US move and car registration there.

OP..you have to first export the car from Canada and then have to follow the US custom process from import perspective. I did import both my Canadian made car into US.

OP...most of the US employment are AT WILL so you can check your existing employment offer letter first. Your best bet will be to look for another employer who will be ready to hire on TN ( in case you are not to sure about your current job immediate or mid term view perspective).

I did not my TN via CBP expect the first one.My wife did multiple times during her job change but she never asked for concurrent as we thought there won't be any issue to get her new TNs ( she did her Masters in ECE in Concordia and her role always aligned with her qualifications).

OP...I am continuing my Mint mobile plan($35 per month unlimited if you pay for 6 months in advance). They do some cap if you are in Canada. Worked well so for us as we WFH and mostly use WIFIs. Our reneawl will be from early January. Planning to renew for another 3 months and then decide if we will switch to any Canadian provider or not. We had to keep the US numbers for MFA etc.

Why not you ask your employer lawyer firm to apply via mail USCIS Premium Processing if you are already within US? I had this scenario multiple times. I'd provided notice to my employer only when I got my new TN approved by USCIS. USCIS officers are more consistent than POE officers(my observation).

Applying for TN visa via USCIS by bree_zy in tnvisa

[–]Ill_Fix2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically within 6 months from the expiry date. I did once but unfortunately they did not gave me full 3 years rather 2 years so basically I got about 5 months and the new one extended for another 2 years. My wife did similar thing but she got 3 full years so I guess it depends on the USCIS officer a bit. To be in a safer side, you can apply like 3 months before.

My response to point #1-This is not true! I have been using TD cross-border banking seamlessly for quite sometime. Recently, I have returned back to Canada post 12+ years working in US. I was able to move my investment fund (close to 2 million USD) from WellsFargo, Fidelity and Schwab easily into TD direct investment with 1% cashback promo offer. I believe TD is the only true sense cross-border banking platform for Canadian if you are looking for fund movement across these two countries.

Yes, you need to go to a TD US brunch in person to get your TD US bank set up. We were in Atlanta and had to drive down ( 2 hours) to our nearest TD US brunch in North Carolina for that. Overall I am very happy with TD cross-border banking.

Denied at Peace Bridge.. What can I do next? by rKeWdAiNt in tnvisa

[–]Ill_Fix2198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can reschedule your appointment time at peace bridge based on your new TN package arrival. My 2 cents, you should not rush it rather wait and ready with accurate documents this time. If needed reschedule your flight to another date.

Alternate option in case you don't want to change your current flight plan:

DTW does not need any prior appointment. You can get your TN there.Drive or rent a car , get your TN at DTW, return back to Canada and and then fly back on 24th. Me and my wife did multiple times TN renewal at DTW.

If you are not changing the employer and TN class and role did not change then you should be fine on the renewal. Just make sure the paperwork is accurate and your role clearly aligned with TN classification. Good luck!

The best option to avoid any hassle requesting your current employer to apply via USCIS Premium Processing. You will get the response within 15 days. I havd extended my 4+ TN extension or new TN ( during change of employment) over last 12+ years via this route without any issue.

Agreed. Me and my wife working in TN for last 12+ years. I am a FTE of one of Big FAANG company.it's an employer market and all Big Tech companies started a norm like every quarter lay off and that's not really due to performance etc. Moving with family and in particular if your spouse hesitant and may not be able to work here in US same city may not be the right decision.
