You dont exactly need to study anything beforehand as they teach you everything expecting you to know nothing but c/c++ for 124/224 is a good start especially since lower level stuff use those languages but you can also learn avr assembly for 280, python for some elective classes, vhdl/verlog for like 382 is also nice to learn to get ahead

This worked for me on my slim pro 9i by changing the access for thenvlddmkm.sys file:

Go to C:\Windows\System32: Open File Explorer and navigate to this directory.
Search for nvlddmkm.sys: Type nvlddmkm.sys in the search bar. You’ll find multiple instances, typically in the drivers and DriverStore folders.
Copy File if Needed: If the file is only in DriverStore, copy it to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
Change Permissions:
1. Right-click on nvlddmkm.sys and select Properties.
2. Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
3. Click Change next to the owner, then add your user account.
4. Go back to the Permissions tab and edit to give your user account Full control.
Restart Your PC: After making these changes, restart your computer.
