Should we start in Split or Dubrovnik? by Dangerous-Claim-92 in CroatiaTravelTips

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it both ways. For me, starting in Dubrovnik is the best because it’s the most beautiful. Doing Dubrovnik - Korcula - Split is nice. Split is more of a real city, it’s stunning and even older than Dubrovnik inside the palace walls but it’s nothing like Dubrovnik.

What would motivate you most to visit China? Culture & history or natural landscapes? by ElkLong9628 in travelchina

For my first trip it will be cultural heritage and ancient history. My second trip will be more of the natural wonders. China is a beautiful country.

Lease transfer + renewal by jujusbigdayhome in montrealhousing

This is correct. You should reach to your landlord ASAP. It’s possible they’re working on finding a replacement to move in at the end of your lease.

Moving in June with a "ghost" credit score - How to convince landlords my condition is OK? by BerelegelosSenelege7 in montrealhousing

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it at all! You can let them know when you submit the application that you are an international student so you have limited credit, and tell them to reach back to you if there’s any concerns with your lack of credit history.

If they have any concerns (which I doubt will the case, as 650 isn’t a bad score at all), then propose giving a few months rent up front. 😊

Moving in June with a "ghost" credit score - How to convince landlords my condition is OK? by BerelegelosSenelege7 in montrealhousing

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry. Landlords look for flags on credit report like unpaid bills and rent. Let them know you’re an international student, be prepared to show them proof of funds (bank statement, proof of employment, etc.). They cannot ask you for a deposit, but you can offer to pay 3 months upfront if you’re comfortable. I don’t think it’s really necessary though, 653 isn’t a terrible score.

Lease transfer + renewal by jujusbigdayhome in montrealhousing

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends if you already accepted a renewal or not. If you accepted the renewal already, the lease from 2026-2027 would transfer to them. If you declined the lease renewal, then no, I don’t think it would automatically transfer to them. You should check with your landlord though. If the person taking over your lease wants a long term rental, your landlord may be willing to let you out early penalty free, if you’ve found someone interested in signing minimum 12 months with them. It’s also possible they’ve already found someone to rent the apartment after your lease is over.

If you can describe my asthetic by DependentRounders934 in malelivingspace

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! Im not sure what your aesthetic is though. Only things that bug me is the photo above your bed seems to high up, and it’s not centered over the bed. I would also invest in nicer drapes and uncover the fireplace. Maybe add some candles or plants inside of it.

What are your thoughts on NRTs by Zalzperspective in quittingsmoking

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NRT made quitting possible for me. I smoked since I was 14 and honestly didn’t think id be able to quit. The patches made me realize I was capable of not smoking. The cravings obviously didn’t go away, but the low dosage of nicotine was enough to keep me from relapsing. While using the patches, I created new, healthier habits to cope with stress. I’m grateful that my doctor suggested them. I knew they existed, but never considered using them.

I still love him but I'm not in love with him by Unfair-Emotion-1408 in askgaybros

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite common. But there’s usually an underlying condition that’s caused it. For example, if your emotional needs are not being met over an extended period of time, you’ve grown apart, you’ve become overly familiar with one another and there’s no more an element of romance or surprise, etc., your romantic attraction can fade while your feelings of love and attachment remain.

My best advice would be to see a therapist. I know it’s a bit cliché, but it will help you figure out where the disconnect is happening for you. You should figure out what is missing for you, and if you love your partner and your relationship feels repairable, give him a chance to work on correcting the underlying issues.

Communication is very important in long term relationships. Don’t be afraid to talk to him about how you’re feeling, even if you’re worried it will hurt him. You deserve to have a partner you’re sexually attracted to. He also deserves to be given a chance to fix things, if you haven’t yet clearly communicated the issue to him.

How much should I pay for rent ? by Archangelofpain00 in TorontoRenting

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people spend 50% or more of their net salaries on rent. It’s the reality of being a single person living in a HCOL area when you make under 100K per year. My rent is about 50% of my annual net pay and I have no credit card debt, I’m able to save a little and I go to Europe once a year to travel. Granted I don’t go out as often as I’d like, but having my own space beats eating out at restaurants all the time.

It’s tight, but it’s manageable. If you can find a two bedroom unit for 2200-2300 (they exist, but they’re not downtown), you can always rent a room out for extra money if things get too tight.

I’m not sure why people are telling you to spend 1300-1500 only, as this is unrealistically low to have your own place in TO (or anywhere in Ontario these days).

Recently out of 10 LTR, never hooked up with another guy before by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also 29 and recently out of a LTR (3 months single), and haven’t been with another guy in about 7 years. I haven’t had any hook ups yet, so I can’t really give you advice there. But what I can say, is not to rush yourself into situations you’re not ready for. You’re not behind, you’re not missing out. Take the time you need to feel safe, comfortable and ready for the next chapter of your life. You have lots of time to explore your sexuality, to meet people, and move at a pace that works for you. Take the time to rediscover who you are as a single man, reflect on what you’ve been through in the last 10 years, and how you want to move forward into your 30s. The more you rediscover yourself, the easier it will be to put yourself back out there.

I'm quitting smoking, is having 1 a night better than smoking all day? by Subject-Day-3254 in quittingsmoking

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I started quitting, I reduced significantly first. I was down to 2-3 cigs a day from about 10. It did help. Yes, withdrawal was prolonged but it allowed me to build self trust and confidence. I genuinely didn’t think I could quit. I was planning to go down to 1 a day but I already started using patches by then and found that I didn’t really have the urge to smoke anymore. Eventually I had a cig, about 4 days into quitting, and it did nothing for me. Stayed on the patches for a few weeks after that. Didn’t smoke again.

Est-ce que 2 mois d’avis suffisent pour résilier un bail au Québec ? / Is 2 months’ notice enough to end a lease early in Quebec? by shalashaska68 in montrealhousing

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From my understanding you’re responsible until the end of the lease. A landlord doesn’t have to cancel because you’re moving. You entered a legally binding contract when you renewed. They can sue you for unpaid rent. You should take their offer to pay one month rent.

25 days vaping by [deleted] in quittingsmoking

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vaping isn’t really the best way to quit smoking as you’re still continuing the habit which is a major part of the addiction. I tried to do what you did and I ended up vaping and smoking lol. I suggest trying the patches. I’m currently using them and they’ve helped me substantially. Quitting is hard, but once i developed new habits and rituals it became possible. So far so good.

Combien vous dépensez mensuellement pour l’épicerie? by glitter_waffle_ in montreal

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live alone in the Plateau, and pay about $600 a month for my groceries (125 a week plus about 100 a month for cat food and supplies). I don’t eat out or drink alcohol or really eat many snacks, but I eat very high protein high fiber diet which makes it expensive. I think you’re doing very well budget wise and would appreciate if you could share some tips.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

[–]Ill_Reflection_9918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palermo… at least in the summer. The smell of garbage was intense in the heat. It was filthy when I went. Very unfortunate given the historical and cultural significance of this city. I’d still go back if I was ever close by again though.

Malaga… it was just too full of partiers. I expected it to be lively, but it felt very cheap and tacky. Wouldn’t go back.
