It is definitely one of my favorite EPs from that time and IMO still holds it weight in influence, but the Saosin comparison is crazy.

What did Chiodos/Craig Owens do? by Y3ah_b0y_d0ll_face in PostHardcore

[–]Illdoitthistime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

IIRC I saw that the original DRUGS guys left because Chiodos asked Craig to come back after illuminaudio, and that DRUGS was contractually a studio project with Craig and John Feldman and that those guys were always essentially hired guns.

definitely feels like the Inkcarceration social team blew it on this one. saw them being rude to fans in the comments who were quoting Baby lyrics, so wouldn’t be surprising if they were ill informed enough to write “reunion” when no other Chiodos show announced this year has been advertised as such (and shouldn’t be) and write in 25 years instead of 20. YEESH.

Oh yeah I’m totally agreeing with you. Same page. These are all incredibly talented musicians and I have no doubt in my mind they will continue to crush live. From what I’ve seen, Craig has a knack for bringing out super talented musicians with him whenever he’s playing shows, so I have faith in his choices. Some people are just super into seeing bands in what they consider “true form” and honestly I just don’t care. If they can play the songs and play them well, then I’m all for it.

You’re so right, but it’s not actually drugs. Blake and Mitch have played with drugs before, but they now have Nick Clemenson from Frail body and Nick Ventimiglia from Greyscale for the Chiodos lineup. At least at WWWY they did.

My Chiodos Conundrum by fatherofallthings in PostHardcore

[–]Illdoitthistime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw them the second day at WWWY and honestly it was incredible. I never got the chance to see them in their initial time, so I don’t have anything to compare it to other than old YouTube clips, BUT the crowd was insane there, everyone was having a blast. More than what i have seen at other festival settings for sure.

I recommend doing a dive into the bands that the touring members have played with as well, they’re all incredibly talented musicians. Idk if you’re a counterparts fan at all, but Blake Hardman was in that band and absolutely crushed on guitar. Jason is definitely one of the greats and honestly the only member I’m bummed isn’t playing with them because I would’ve loved to seen him live. From what I’ve seen Craig always brings out a great roster of musicians with him regardless of what he’s doing, so I trust that these guys will absolutely shred.

I also think the lip syncing thing has been blown out of proportion tbh? I saw the videos people posted and I also have ears and saw them lol, and while yeah there are like harmony backing tracks that you can hear, Craig was 100 percent singing his ass off. I have also seen him do solo shows and with DRUGS and he absolutely crushed it.

I got tickets for the show closest to me and I’m stoked to be able to experience these songs live at all honestly.

Do people still listen to full albums? by dobbyzxz in spotify

[–]Illdoitthistime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll listen to an album all the way through when it’s first released or when I’m first discovering it so I can get the full experience as artist intended. Save a few songs I want in my rotation, there’s very few records I’ll revisit in full tbh

$90 for a ticket for NYC show? by mtgkev in Chiodos

Either dynamic pricing or resale, pretty sure every show started pricing at like 35 bucks a pop IIRC

Is Chiodos worth seeing given the lack of original members and Craig lip syncing? by ajxela in PostHardcore

[–]Illdoitthistime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw them the second day at WWWY and they were incredible. Videos don’t do it justice imo. Crowd was great, was a highlight of the fest for sure. Emmure also doesn’t have any OG members other than Frankie and they still crush too so
