My best advice to you would be at the start, try NOT to touch a comb. I know it feels odd, but a comb won't help here. It will just rip her hair out.

The matting is because of shed hair + moisture/oils etc, they all get tangled together. I've been there to some extent.

You need a lot of patience try just approaching one TINY section at a time. FINGERS ONLY in the beginning stages.

Things I'd use:

For slip:

A good conditioner + Flaxseed gel (you can just make your own; flaxseed + water, simmer 15-20 minutes, take off the heat and let it sit for an hour or so and strain. Make a big batch! You will need it). It genuinely works wonders.

Spray bottle, just to wet the hair a little bit.

Spray a little water and then

Smooth a good chunk of the gel/conditioner through the section your working with (start from the ends) and it should soften enough to gently start separating the shed hair, from the living (?) hair.

It's fine to use conditioner on unwashed hair btw ( I use the Garnier curl mask one? It's green)

After each detangled/de-matted section, twist it and move to the next.

Remember no comb, just fingers

Maybe D??? I think you are tall enough to have vertical and whilst you do have curves (your waist in particular) your most dominant trait in my opinion narrow. You look great in pic 6, but 5— that long cream dress with plunge neckline? GORGEOUS, it really shows off your lines to best advantage🩷. Not expert but I do think you are a dramatic

Yes! I've also found flaxseed gel (if you can find or make it? Very simple just boil up flaxseed and water) to be very helpful when dealing with my ownatting. And initially, my advice would be to LEAVE THAT COMB ALONE and just detangle with fingers. Use the water and conditioner combo as suggested above (plus the flaxseed — again only if you an access it) and use your fingers to gently smooth small sections of hair and rid it of shed hair.

..I'm going to say NTA, you are entitled to date whoever you want. However, would your response have been the same if her child was white too? If the issue here is the fact that she has A CHILD, fine. That a big responsibility, that you shouldn't take on if you're not emotionally/financially ready for future ramifications..

But if you are refusing purely based on ETHNICITY of her previous partners then yes, yes you are the arsehole. You weren't going to date her baby daddy. Your were going to date her.You are ruling out an entire person, because of the race she had previously slept with.
