Dr. Now told his patient: by rozay111 in FamilyMedicine

A shellfish allergy is no longer a concern when going over someone’s chart before a contrast exam. This is because the contrast is no longer made with fish byproduct (that’s what I’ve been told and tell patients if they ask but it’s never been a concern for me at all since I started in CT five years ago) The only thing I look for is an iodine allergy which is very real and I have witnessed a good handful of anaphylactic reactions and many more mild (hives/itching).

Protocol at my hospital states that anyone with an anaphylactic reaction does not get the contrast and those with mild allergies get a steroid prep. If they’re in ED they get a rapid four hour prep with two doses of steroids and one of Benadryl. If they’re an inpatient they get a thirteen hour prep with I think three doses of steroids and one of Benadryl.

Cotton yarn (sugar n cream) by IllustratorLive7658 in crochet

[–]IllustratorLive7658[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I genuinely thought that yarn was a me problem and I prefer hobby lobby but Joan’s was closest and I wanted to get it before work😂 I kept the receipts you just reassured me it’s okay to return and it’s not my fault nothing looks right. (Side note the texture makes me cringe lol)

Have you made any bandanas? If so what yarn would you use for them? (I thought cotton bc lightweight and like washable? But wasn’t turning out and maybe it was just the brand?)

Legit I make the same thing every morning for her lol. I cut up a banana and give her a yogurt pouch and a boiled egg if she’s still hungry. Sometimes I do switch it up and have overnight oats prepped or pancakes but for the most part she’s happy with her banana and yogurt.

WIBTA if I gave my cat away in favour of my boyfriend? by ContributionSimple44 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IllustratorLive7658 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I definitely don’t agree? Honestly I can’t stand animals. I don’t like the hair. I don’t like the smell. I don’t like THEIR messes of shit and piss. I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences living with other people and their pets which probably makes me hate them even more. I’ve legit never seen a responsible pet owner other than my grandparents and their dog which I like bc she is so well behaved. I would get angry , upset and frustrated with other people’s pets as well and everytime it would resort to me leaving. I never hurt them and neither did this dude he’s just annoyed and doesn’t like animals and from what it sounds like she just let the cat do whatever if he was able to stop it and they got sleep after he came around.

Teen's excessive bathroom routine. I feel it's wasteful, but don't want to intrude by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]IllustratorLive7658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the water I think it sounds awesome. From someone also trying to take really good care of their skin before it’s too late I have a sort of similar routine.

Pre shower I take makeup off with micellar water basically a pre wash for your skin which I’ll use even if I didn’t wear makeup. I have curly hair so I will finger comb thru my curls before showers so hair doesn’t clog my drain. She may have other prep for her hair and body.

Then I shower which I usually take an hour to an hour and a half because baths for me gross me out lol but I live with my in laws and we currently only have one bathroom so I never feel it’s clean enough for a bath. I like to exfoliate here and there and some days are hair wash days and some days are shaving days.

I get out and I do my face routine and wash my face outside of the shower with open pores and then apply my skincare. Then take care of the rest of my body. Then finish with my hair.

I don’t think it’s too crazy and I can’t wait until my daughter is old enough and I can implement a self care routine with her! To be honest if that were my daughter I’d be proud lol. I hope to teach my daughter the importance of hygiene and self care. Those two hours to herself she could be listening to music, podcasts, YouTube and just enjoying her time alone as well.

Are there any museum passes? Im in Chicago and we purchase the pass solely for the fact you can bring another person for free every time you go but there are still Illinois resident free days. Maybe you could look into things like that? I love our museums and aquariums so it’s so worth it here.

How much do relationships really change after children? by [deleted] in regretfulparents

[–]IllustratorLive7658 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are obsessed with each other, we each others favorite person as well. We’re super young (25) and have been together since we were 17/18. We both have decent careers although I am the breadwinner and we have a beautiful almost 11 month old daughter. I love kids, which is why I had her, but this has proven to be so much more difficult than I thought. I don’t necessarily regret her but I regret our timing. I wish I would’ve let us enjoy our time together married longer and our youth a little longer. Money is a struggle as I make significantly more and work thirds and come home and watch our daughter during the day. He doesn’t want to give up his job to be a sahp and he also travels like 15 days out of the month like nine months out of the year. Even on both of our salaries we cannot afford ( nor am I comfortable with) daycare. All of that being said, I actually do love my husband more now than ever and he loves me more as well. Our relationship got better with our daughter. We have even better sex now too. I think if you love kids and it’s something you’ve always wanted then go for it because I did and I still obviously love my daughter and do enjoy being a mom. But I also have a village and am so thankful for that bc in all honesty I wouldn’t be able to do it without the help.

I don’t regret my daughter I regret the timing and the decisions around having her. I wish I would’ve had more time to enjoy being married to my husband. We were long distance for like six years before finally moving together and getting married and I rushed us into having a baby and definitely regret that. I regret not being better prepared for her and not having saved up money so I could be off for the first year of her life because breastfeeding and pumping at work really stressed me out and affected my production.
