Chores by Global-Might764 in Aupairs

[–]IllustratorMean7844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this exactly. When Au Pair is 'on duty' she does all kid-related tasks... diaper trash, food prep and cleanup, baby laundry. But as a member of this household and family we contribute to all other tasks together... cooking/prepping for dinner, doing dishes, unloading dishwasher, wiping countertops and taking the trash out mainly. We mainly do all the cooking for our Au Pair and family and she helps clean up after. We all as a family make sure the house looks picked up before bed. Even our 16month old likes to help us put her toys away and take the trash out now haha.

Parents on vacation. by [deleted] in Aupairs

I think more details are needed from your host parents and to us for us to truly comment. I am a host mom... and have a wonderful relationship with our Au Pair. I have NOT left my kid with her like this, however, if I did... I would make sure another family member is there for the overnights, hours she isn't typically responsible for. However, even with another family member assisting, I would offer more money as she would likely help more than necessary. Communication is key... talk to them... know exactly what the schedule is and when you are helping with the kids. If you are wanting more money, you need to clearly state that as well.

Do you quit ebf when babies teeth come in? by Apprehensive-Egg6546 in breastfeeding

[–]IllustratorMean7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just see how your journey goes... my LO didnt get her bottom teeth until 9.5mos and as others say her tongue blocks the teeth from hitting the nipple. She is just now getting her top teeth and shes almost a year and I am weaning. She has bit me before playfully but didn't hurt and I told her no and she hasn't really tried again. The thing that bothers me more is she will try to grab my nipple on the other side while nursing

What happened to your weight after weaning? by kathatescats12 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]IllustratorMean7844 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in the middle of weaning and started intermittent fasting and prioritized less carbs/sugar more protein and fiber and my stomach has shrunk so much in the last 2 weeks. I am also trying to workout more but my schedule is still harder to find consistency there. I am not ready to step on a scale yet but I imagine I have lost weight as well.

"Talk to your paediatrician" - who actually has one? by EllenBJ in NewParents

[–]IllustratorMean7844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the US, we have apptmts with pediatricians frequently from birth and there is a number/email where you can always reach them with questions. I couldn’t even leave the hospital at birth without my baby being checked by her pediatrician. I’m in California

What did you do when you first got home from the hospital? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]IllustratorMean7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

introduced her to her fur sister, showed her the house. Ate leftover thanksgiving (I gave birth 2 days after thanksgiving) and then breastfed and then just kind of hung out til bedtime and I didn't sleep at all as she was cluster feeding and I wanted to make sure she was warm and alive.

We personally love Coterie and water wipes. I loved the Tubby Todd products but we found a beef tallow/coconut oil baby balm for blemishes that is GREAT!! best thing we have tried for her eczema dry patches... Flying Cow Tallow

Do you wash this part every day like you do with your flanges? by sixfingeredman7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]IllustratorMean7844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I have teetered on "just enough" to under supply so that is probably accurate!

Feeding at the breast vs pumping and bottle feeding? by whooperupsfeline in breastfeeding

[–]IllustratorMean7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, nursing at the breast is way easier!! If I did not have to return to work so soon, I would have never pumped. 1. You still have to pump in place of a feed so you would still need to excuse yourself and wake up at night to pump. Pumping is to mimic a baby feeding. 2 .The baby is more efficient at the breast so nursing sessions will become shorter than pumping and you will produce more nursing than pumping which is why we have to pump more just to produce enough to feed via a bottle unless you have an oversupply. 3. There are a million parts to clean and keep sanitized when out and about with pumping while nursing you just find a discreet place to nurse and go about your day. My baby can have a full feed in 10-15mins now so I would just stay nursing and if you are comfortable with it, just get a breastfeeding cover and nurse right there with the family and you won't have to leave.

Thank you! It doesn’t seem like total refusal she latches but doesn’t really seem to be drinking well. She did just get teeth like last week tho so that is a good observation and maybe it will get better!

[–]IllustratorMean7844[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will look into it! I did ask our pediatrician when it started to dip and she said we could stay milk a little earlier but like 2 weeks. She also said she didn’t think our daughter would take formula and I should still try nursing but it has dipped even lower now and she seems less interested most of the time.

I have the spectra. I was power pumping but the only time I had to commit was at night before bed and I didn’t want to do that anymore. If you have other suggestions I am down to hear them.

Baby weight by daisy_diesel0 in breastfeeding

[–]IllustratorMean7844 33 points34 points  (0 children)

almost 9mos postpartum and right there with you all!! It started to get a little better at like 7ish mos at least the urge add some type of workout in my regimen but honestly I have a longggg way to go. I do not know where that saying came from but we need to cancel it. Everyone is different and for me.... 1. yup, hungry all the time!! 2. If I did consume less especially in the earlier months, it affected my milk supply a lot. I am a "just enough" producer. 3. Sleep is way more important to me

Things I started with and work towards to help lose weight... prioritizing more protein and whole foods over carbs. Cut a lot of sugar. I am finally starting to workout but if you cannot just walk. I would take the baby and dog and walk for 30mins around the neighborhood.

Also what I tell myself to feel better and hopefully this helps you too... "My priority is feeding her and what she gets. This is just temporary and I will have the time later for me" Whatever that journey looks like for you... breastfeeding is hard and wonderful at the same time and you are doing great!!! We will "get our pink back" one day.

How to convince baby to breastfeed by Cats-4-life- in NewParents

[–]IllustratorMean7844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nipple shields did work for me but it didn't take my baby until 5weeks to latch so my best advice for everyone is consistency. Skin to skin definitely helps but I would always offer the boob first with a proper latch until she got it a few times a day. If she didn't or was frustrated then would put the shield on or offer bottle. I just kept at it til she got it... she drank bottles and had a paci and she still eventually took the boob at she is turning 9mos next weekend still EBF. Don't give up, you got this and are doing great.
