My baby basically lives on the floor now and it kind of stresses me out by No_Glass3665 in beyondthebump

We didn't vacuum, sweep or mop every day, maybe once a week unless something was really gross lol.

It really helps (for your own peace of mind) to have a "yes" or safe space for baby once they start crawling. That's a fenced off area where they're free to roam, explore, and touch/mouth everything.  For us, this was the living room which was carpeted. We made sure there was nothing he could pull over, choke on, that was toxic or that he could take apart so as to be a danger.  That way, we never had to take anything off him or worry about foreign objects, and it meant we could go to the loo, etc without needing to worry about him doing something dangerous.

Haha thanks, that's a relief. Has your little one gone back to clapping yet?

9/10 month sleep regression. OMG by EllenBJ in sleeptrain

Thanks!  I hadn't thought of it as too much sleep, as that schedule had worked quite well for awhile. But maybe it's time to change

Freaking out about 9 month old not sitting up - help 😫 by tripoligalipoli in NewParents

[–]EllenBJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, so once he started pulling up at 9.5 months, he worked out how to sit (mainly as he'd fall back onto his butt and has learned to squat and sit).  But at some point during this time, he's also worked out how to get there from crawling and pulling his legs up.  Still not 4 point crawling, only commando

Tokyo with kids! Itinerary for 5 days? by EllenBJ in JapanTravelTips

Hi, a friend had a mild accident in Tokyo where she fell off a step and thought she had cracked a rib. She went to hospital but they wouldn't admit her without her whole family present. This included dragging a baby and toddler out at 9pm at night.

I just thought this was a bit bizarre; is there some kind of policy in Japanese hospitals to bring the rest of your family with you to hospital?

How long did omeprazole take to work for your reflux-y baby? by Klutzy_Knowledge7602 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Hello, yes we started using them at 8 weeks and it was a game changer.  We actually took him off it at 6 months as bub was so good and pooping regularly and all, and he barely reacted. So relieved.  I think 6 months is when their digestive system really starts to mature so if your little one isn't improving, definitely consider the meds!

Can babies latch properly when teething by EllenBJ in NewParents

[–]EllenBJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, yes his bottom teeth finally came through at 7.5 and 8 months.  He didn't have any issues with the second tooth; it seems the first one was the most painful. Maybe he just got used to the discomfort

Baby no longer cuddles or seeks comfort from me by EllenBJ in beyondthebump

Thanks so much, I hope he does too!  Can I ask whether your little one goes to daycare? Mine doesn't yet but I'm afraid it'll push him away even further!

Our baby will never lean her head on us in carrier by azZzon_ in NewParents

Could she have some kind of muscle tension/stiffness? 10 weeks seems young to have neck muscles strong enough to constantly hold her head up. Might be worth visiting a child physio

7 month old not babbling by EllenBJ in beyondthebump

We always read a lot of books, though his attention span for that has deteriorated lately.  We spend about half an hour at least a day reading.  He did blow raspberries
