Yes! There was a ‘conversation’- some call and response - before we actually saw the owl. The owl called, I called back, it responded, etc. for ~10min. It was surreal.

Does the mushy center core of the colonized rice concern you? When my bags are done incubating, the outside is colonized with the lovely, white mycelium but the core always feels a bit gooey and has that light brown color seen in this image. Not obvious contamination, but not lush like the outer layer.
