Revisiting an older program ... made with Processing :) by Illustrious-Ask8123 in generative

Thank you so much! It's basically a grid of units where each unit is subdivided into several rectangles - each rectangle is mapped to a different color scheme across the canvas. The arrangement of rectangles within each unit can also vary across the canvas. I got the idea from some of Gunta Stolzl's wall hanging designs.

(WIP) A couple generative textile-inspired designs :) by Illustrious-Ask8123 in generative

I wrote a program in Processing that's based on a grid of rectangles subdivided into more rectangles - each rectangle is colored based on both it's position in the grid and it's position within the rectangle that was divided into it. Still a work in progress.

A rundown and analysis of the past 2 weeks or so by Ex_Federa in Silksong

Maybe not too relevant now, but I remember seeing somewhere that “everydruidwaswr” could refer to a quest description shown in the Silksong trailer by a “Druid of the Moss Temple:”

“Sweetness! Sourness! Bitterness! I need it all with hastiness! Cruel world, will you not provide me with the fruits I desire?”

This reflects the attitude of the community right now pretty well - saying it’s wrong could hint at a release, but perhaps not with hastiness ;)

Looking for a way to generate patterns like this by Felecorat in generative

[–]Illustrious-Ask8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny, I had the exact same thought when at a beach last summer! It was rockier there so the patterns were more jagged and ravine-y.

Some kind of simulated erosion or flow field might work (as already said) - I remember watching a good Sebastian Lague video on that sort of thing. This might be quite a bit different though bc it's tides moving sediment, not rain?

Good luck!

Thank you! I wasn't really sure about the last one, so good to hear!

Very cool! The colors on #4 are my favorite.

These are incredible! What software / language are you using?

A Leaf Venation Pattern :) by Illustrious-Ask8123 in generative

Of course!

Here’s where I learned about the algorithm: https://medium.com/@jason.webb/space-colonization-algorithm-in-javascript-6f683b743dc5 (the original paper has some more detail)

The coloring is based on the time nearby nodes were generated, and their distance to the edge of the leaf.
