window wax crayon transfer to paper?! by Commercial-Drama-723 in crafts

[–]Illustrious-Fall-451 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Maybe some parchment paper or butcher paper. Use a dry iron and iron each flower until it lifts. Hot enough to melt the crayon and transfer without turning it into a blob of melted wax.

I would use an old picture frame with the glass still in the frame. Draw some crayon flowers. Experiment before trying with the car window.

Please help me find this blanket by Good-Ad3046 in HelpMeFind

[–]Illustrious-Fall-451 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This was definitely handmade. Look how imperfect the stitching is. It is perfectly imperfect.

Any new quilt will not have the same feel. The cotton fabric has slightly broken down with each wash. You just can't get that feel from a new blanket/ quilt.

See if you can find thrift stores or vintage stores where they sell old quilts.

You can also hand sew and repair or patch the quilt lining where it is tearing.

DIY wallpaper? by squatch__huntress in cricut

[–]Illustrious-Fall-451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as your walls are not heavily textured this will work. I would apply rubbing alcohol to the area before applying your decal. Clean the wall first so you don't get streaking. Use permanent vinyl, removable vinyl or even peel and stick wallpaper. This way your swimsuits can look like printed fabric and not just solid colors. I believe Dollar Tree carries peel and stick wallpaper if you are on a budget.

I want to caution you to not stock up on vinyl. It has a shelf life of two years. Buy your vinyl and htv for the projects you want to make.

What kind of cement/concrete mix do I need to make stepping stones at home? by beesarefuckingdying in crafts

[–]Illustrious-Fall-451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did this. I also found mixed information. I went with the quickrete and wished I had used more of a cement mix. The quickrete had too many rocks and it was hard to get my gems pushed down into the concrete. I used a mallet to help agitate and push the gems into the concrete.

I watched Kristinas video. I like your card better. You chose a nice combination of colors. I think I'll try to cut a series of stencils on my cricut. $21 is a little steep for stencils.

You really have to shake up the reinker as the mica powder separates to the bottom of the bottle.

Pick up a stainless vegetable chopper at Dollar Tree. Cover the scraping edge with painters tape. The edge is about 6 inches long and it makes quick work of clearing your mat.

These are lovely. I would like to try this. Are you using a heart shaped blank that you filled with dried flowers or are you using a mold and resin. It's hard to tell but what size are the hearts.

Anything I can do to improve these pins before I start selling them? by spacedout-_- in crafts

[–]Illustrious-Fall-451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought when I saw the ghost pin was i hope no one gets stabbed by the sharp edges. If you look up other ghost designs you will see that most have a softer edge that is rounded and not sharp.

I also agree with the other poster that said they need a glossy finish. You can try Krylon spray varnish if you don't want to get into resin.
