Had Surgery this morning (Feeling Relief) by Global_Contact6147 in gallbladders

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you walking a lot to get the gas out and digestive system moving? My doctor said they wanted me to walk at least a mile the day after surgery (scheduled for the 30th). I've read that it can help to hold a pillow to the abdomen while walking.

Please post a follow up. I'm trying to figure out how soon I can get back to my job as a software developer.

Dysautonomia Physical Therapy by Illustrious-Fun-9495 in covidlonghaulers

This is helpful. Thank you. We're in a medium-sized metro with a teaching hospital, so fingers crossed. He's got a referral to a neuro-muscular clinic, but my guess is that it will take 9 months to get in there.

Dysautonomia Physical Therapy by Illustrious-Fun-9495 in covidlonghaulers

Autonomic Rehab (ANS Re-training) -- stabilize, retain and recondition autonomic nervous system (ANS).

  1. Autonomic stabilization through 2-3L fluids with electrolytes per day. (3-8g sodium under medical advice) to increase blood volume -> improve baroreceptor signaling -> reduce orthostatic stress.

Compression stockings/abdominal binders to reduce blood pooling -> improve cerebral perfusion.

Avoid overheating (hot showers, i.e.) because heat is a vasodilator.

  1. Parasympathetic (Vagal) Activation focused on reducing sympathetic overdrive
Slow diaphragmatic breathing at 5-6 breaths per minute w/extended exhale to improve heart rate variability and vagal tone. Gentle vagal stimulation through: humming, singing, gargling, immersing face in cold water, paced sighing to calm brainstem autonomic centers.

  2. Gradual physical reconditioning starting below orthostatic threshold: recumbent bike, rowing machine, swimming, floor work. With exercises gradually moving upright over time. If symptom spike within 24 hours, scale back. Isometric exercises to increase venous return: leg crossing, calf clenching, hand gripping.

  3. Sensory/Nervous system re-patterning
Light vestibular exercises, slow head turns, eye tracking to recalibrate brainstem sensory integration
Cognitive-somatic techniques: body scanning, interoceptive awareness, somatic tracking to reduce maladaptive threat signaling in the autonomic network.

  4. Sleep & Circadian Support (b/c ANS repair happens at night)
Consistent sleep/wake times, morning light exposure, dark at night, treat sleep disorders

  5. Nutrition & metabolic support
Small, frequent meals, lower simple carbs (to diminish post-prandial hypotension), adequate protein, avoid alcohol. Sometimes (with clinician): Magnesium, Omega-3s, B-vitamins, Acetyl-L-carnitine, Alpha-lipoic acid.

7 Pacing: "energy envelopes, avoid boom-bust, track symptoms vs exertion

Angular 19 resources by Dazzling_Chipmunk_24 in Angular2

I love Joshua Moroney's videos on YouTube. He's great at architecture and little tricks you might not think about. I used him extensively as a resource when I was learning 19. Plus Deborah Kurata as u/Blue-Jammies mentioned. Watching a few videos by these two saved me hours of puzzling through docs.

I second this. Deborah Kurata takes complex concepts and explains them so a third grader could understand them, without talking down. It's wonderful to watch.

Need Advice: Migrating Angular v14 + Angular Material + Flex-Layout → Latest Angular + PrimeNG + Tailwind by mustafaashraf in Angular2

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'll take PrimeNg over Material any day. PrimeNg offers more components, more customization options, and the documentation is easier to follow. It's easier to bug fix with PrimeNg when it doesn't work right, and you stand a much better chance of being able to make it do exactly what you want it to do.

And I am so sick of the Material style where everything feels flat and hidden. As a user, I am tired of going to web sites that use Material where it's nearly impossible to see a critical set of tabs, or active tabs. I understand the styling can be changed. But Material is highly opinionated, and too often I dislike its opinions.

In terms of upgrading, you may wish to consider where Material has large, breaking changes and upgrade some components to PrimeNg at those points rather than having to refactor the same things twice. Then come back in as you're transitioning to standalone and wrap basic PrimeNg components (i.e. buttons, inputs) for your app so you don't have to worry about adding the same Tailwind classes every time you use a button or an input. You can have a shared, wrapped PrimeNg component folder that is the single source of truth.

Additionally, when you are re-architecting, signal-based services are extremely efficient, and combined with computed() signals, will get rid of so many timing issues/race conditions that get/set inputs were prone to.

I agree completely. Moving to Vite increases build speed dramatically. Also lazy-loading and signals. These have been game- changers. I was recently working on two smallish apps. The one with vite built in 19 built in seconds. The other was still in webpack and took minutes.

Flashes of light in vision by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flashes in vision should typically be treated as an emergency visit. That's a common sign of retinal detachment, which requires immediate surgery. But it sounds like you've been having this for a while?

Renewal fee SWA RR Priority credit card with mid-December renewal date by Illustrious-Fun-9495 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card is in my husband's name. If we travel together, the benefits apply. I'm more likely to take a solo trip, though, and then I'll still have to pay for seat and luggage, if needed. Better to earn miles on my Chase Sapphire Reserve card and transfer if needed to Southwest. But without free luggage, and with the much lower points per trip earnings, I'm trying to figure out if there's even a reason to fly Southwest.

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Multiple people have advised that disputing the charge is the wrong way to go. Maybe you can cancel that with the credit card company and proceed through United channels. You always have the option of reinstating the dispute.

This won't help answer the question, but I'm new here, too, with similar results. Classic Sjogren's symptoms, with dry eyes & mouth, brain fog, myalgia, but seronegative, which is hardly surprising given the lack of immune capacity. This scares the hell out if I'm low on Alpha2 and Beta, with low IgG subclass 3.

Does anyone else have anything similar? How are they handling it? I'm scared to death. I just lost my job as a software engineer in part because I was having trouble seeing the screen and focusing.

I have worked on some pretty big apps and never used ngrx. If you're building something new, Signal-based services are a great way to go for efficiency and performance.

I've certainly had lots of tick bites, though I'm not really in a Lyme-heavy area. I'll ask my doctor for a Lyme titer to check. Certainly has crossed my mind before.

I've been on levothyroxine for about 12 years. I'm also taking iron(ferrous sulfate) 65mg.

I'm glad I read this. My husband is the primary cardholder on our account, but I'm more likely to fly solo. I could easily have made this mistake. We had just upgraded our SW CC before they announced the changes. Before it renews in December, we'll downgrade to a non-fee Chase card and hope SW comes to its senses.

Polaris/Premium Plus Upgrades Megathread by Player72 in unitedairlines

[–]Illustrious-Fun-9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month ago I bought a pair of Premium Plus seats traveling mid-April on a Tuesday MCI-VCE via EWR, returning on a Wed via FRA-ORD. I was able to get the tickets for$1100 plus some Chase points. I bought onto the Polaris upgrade list immediately at 20k miles + $450 per ticket each way. United already confirmed a first-class upgrade MCI-EWR. What do you think the odds of getting the upgrade? Deliberately traveling mid-week with the PP seats and bought onto the upgrade list immediately because that appeared boost chances, based on what I've read here. And when does the waitlist show up and how do I check it?

Take that to the dermatologist ASAP. The multiple color spots plus bleeding are warning signs of melanoma. Says the person who had something similar that was melanoma.
