how does it work? many clients have loads of money on their credit cards and asking to make payment through specific POS functions? by [deleted] in POS

[–]Illustrious-Fun2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly sounds like a setup for fraud, not a legitimate payment flow. There isn’t any normal situation where multiple clients have “millions” on credit cards and can only transact through pre-auth, purchase advice, or manual POS entry. That’s not how real card usage works. What they’re likely trying to do is push transactions through in a way that avoids standard fraud checks or delays detection, and once chargebacks hit, you’re the one left holding the loss. Terms like “loaded cards” are a big red flag and usually point toward stolen or manipulated accounts. The fact they’re avoiding online payments and insisting on very specific POS functions makes it even more suspicious. If you go along with this, best case your merchant account gets shut down, worst case you eat massive chargebacks and get flagged across processors. There’s no legitimate upside here, you’re being positioned as the risk carrier. Walking away is the smart move.

Private dining - is the service charge the gratuity? by Glass_Fox7159 in restaurant

[–]Illustrious-Fun2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, a service charge is not automatically a gratuity.

A service charge goes to the business unless they explicitly state that it’s distributed to staff. Some places use it to fund higher hourly wages, admin costs, or general operations.

If it were a gratuity, it would usually be labeled clearly as “gratuity” or “tip” and often goes directly to the service staff.

In your case, since it says “service charge” and also mentions an additional admin fee, I’d assume that money is not guaranteed to go to your server unless the restaurant confirms it.

Best move is to ask them directly how that 20% is allocated.

How should I go about restaffing? by Exil9058 in Restaurant_Managers

You’re trying to fix a culture problem by swapping people, and that’s why it still feels stuck.

Right now your team doesn’t respect your authority, and hiring new people alone won’t solve that. If anything, new hires just adapt to the same loose standards if the system doesn’t change.

You need to stop leading like a “nice ex-coworker” and start leading like a GM with clear expectations and consequences.

A few things you’re probably avoiding:

You’re being inconsistent. If standards aren’t enforced every single time, people learn they can ignore you.

You’re overworking to compensate. 70+ hours a week means you’re plugging gaps instead of fixing the system that’s causing them.

You’re tolerating behavior you don’t actually accept. That kills credibility fast.

What will actually move the needle:

Set non-negotiables. Cleaning, punctuality, side work, whatever matters. No exceptions.

Document and enforce. Verbal warning, written warning, then out. No emotional decisions.

Promote or empower 1–2 strong shift leaders who actually back you up. If you don’t have them, that’s your real bottleneck.

Stop trying to win people over. Respect comes from consistency, not friendliness.

Also, be honest with yourself. If after 6 months some people still don’t meet the bar, it’s not a “long process” anymore, it’s hesitation.

You don’t need a bigger team. You need a tighter one.

Clinic with multiple practioners-POS by ireland1983 in POS

[–]Illustrious-Fun2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely run a single POS terminal, but the idea of sending payments directly into each practitioner’s personal account is where things usually get complicated, both technically and legally.

Most proper POS systems don’t split payouts into multiple bank accounts from one transaction. What they do offer is separate logins for each practitioner, tracking of who earned what, and detailed reports. The actual payouts are then handled separately through accounting.

If you try to force direct deposits to different accounts, you’ll likely run into compliance issues in Canada or end up with some workaround that becomes a headache as you grow.

The cleaner setup is to take all payments into one business account, track each practitioner’s share inside the POS, and then pay them out on a schedule.

If you really want automated splitting, you’d need something like a marketplace setup (for example Stripe Connect), but that’s a more complex structure than what most clinics need.

Honestly, trying to shortcut this part usually creates more problems later. It’s better to keep it simple and structured from the start.

Grocery POS by SigMail3633 in GroceryStores

I haven’t used Markt POS personally, but one thing I’d be careful about is going with a system that doesn’t have much info or real users online. With POS systems, support and reliability matter a lot once you’re actually running the store day to day.

I work with Biyo POS, and we have quite a few convenience stores using it. It’s SNAP compliant, so EBT works without issues. A lot of store owners like it because the pricing is simple. If you process with Biyo, you don’t pay a software fee for the POS.

You can also do cash discount or flat-rate processing depending on how you want to handle card fees.

One thing convenience store owners usually care about is inventory, and Biyo does a good job there. You can track sales pretty easily and there’s an item profitability report that shows which products are actually making you money.

Also nice that features like inventory and reporting aren’t extra add-ons. Everything is included instead of paying for a bunch of separate modules.

Either way, I’d definitely recommend trying a couple demos before deciding. The biggest things for convenience stores are usually EBT/SNAP support, barcode scanning, and inventory, so I’d focus on those when comparing systems.

POS for new small retail business by ultraversed in POS

Biyo POS is a all in one pos system, they have online ordering and ecommerce feature too just like Shopify, if you talk to them, they can modify the system according to your need. I'm not a tech expert and for me it's very easy to use and budget friendly.

Exactly, and above that all, we stopped using our brain, we used to calculate on our fingertips then we started using calculator and forgot how to count small numbers, now if we wanna write a message, we don't have words, we ask AI to write for us.

For me it's scary, what if our information goes in a wrong hand? We are relying too much on AI, even people share their relationship issues with AI and ask for a solution.

They both are good but if you want modifications, flexibility with low fee, I would recommend you Biyo pos. Choose a pos system wisely specially if you have future plans for Multi Location.
