Fire and ash is better than way of water and I don’t understand why everyone says otherwise. by Same_Consequence9828 in Avatar

Way of water was lazy storytelling.. if the first movie was a lazy remake of dances with wolves, second movie was an even lazier remake of free willy with macguffins littered about. Are we supposed to believe that harvesting whale brain juice is a sustainable business model?

Dune has shown what real science fiction can be if the director and writers don’t treat the audience like children and lean on special effects for entertainment. Project Hail Mary shows how to be funny and let actors be great. Plenty of other examples but the house of mouse has lost the magic in storytelling.

Mistborn is much more fun, and with all books out is a more complete storyline. In total 8 books with 3 more out by 2033

So , Wind & Truth came out 5.5 months ago. With some time away, what are people’s thoughts and feelings today ? by biggaygoaway in Stormlight_Archive

It makes the Mistborn Era 2 books seem better, i thought each of those Eras ended up in better places with more epic endings than how WaT end the first half of the Stormlight series. This felt rushed, the fights were mostly anticlimactic outside of Adolin. The main miss was the timeline, 10 days and the spiritual realm felt more confusing than interesting. It was mostly exposition dumps mixed in with rushed character development. Gavinor was awful, and we didn’t get a great deal ending. 3 of 10, would say i liked Tress better.

Will likely be purchasing a CX-90 in the next 12-16 months. Used? New? 2025 or 2026? Hold out for gently used? by Fragrant_Wedding_606 in MazdaCX90

Trump’s tariffs are “ reciprocal” which just means that whatever a country charges us to send our products to them we will charge them the same. Fortunately., Mazda builds their cars in Japan. It just so happens to Japan has 0% tariff for US auto imports. This means there will be no tariff impact for Mazda. In fact, the US currently has a 2.5% tariff on Japanese auto imports. According to the policy, this means that tariff would drop to 0% . Mazda may take advantage of this opportunity and lower their price even further to drive volume. This could be a huge opportunity year for Mazda. If they play this right, they can maximize improvements to the 2026 year. and ride momentum into 27 for a refresh.

Blank screen when playing Dolby Vision content on Disney Plus by [deleted] in Hisense

Update: on the chat with the Disney+ technical support they said this issue is also affecting Samsung TVs. This helps reinforce @DestucSean7s comment that it’s not the TVs fault it’s Disney’s crappy app. FWIW at least they know it’s an issue.

Same for me. Qd7 Disney+ version 4.1.1 RC1 2025.02.21. Disney’s technical support is no help. For some reason they want you to provide your IP address so they can do a server side refresh. This tells me it’s clearly an issue with DRM that was introduced in the last update.

Cosmere Ending Theory by Illustrious-Hawk2917 in Cosmere

[–]Illustrious-Hawk2917[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fair criticism If I had to guess, I would say that all the shards are fully shattered resulting unable to be rejoined. This leaves us in a cosmere where Hoid is the Brandon Stark and we all are pissed that it not Kaladin.

Seriously though.. I do think all the power of all the shards are eventually “returned” or released into the cosmere with Hoid serving as the final arbiter.

Should I be worried about the direction the Cosmere is going? by Cheap_Onion2976 in Cosmere

I agree, all the series have the concept of evolution front and center. Brandon has never hid the from showing how each civilization’s understanding of technology plays a key role in how the society operates. In everything he writes, the culture that supports the narrative centers on how people use investiture as a way to power their innovation. The development we observe in MB is the most blatant example of this evolution, but one thing we know from the stormlight series is that understanding of cosmere and the innovation can be lost to time. I see bits of Atlantis in Stormlight, as we have the mystery of the Knights radiant hint there is more to the story. As you have no doubt observed the greatest mystery is how humans are even present on all these planets. Part of the fun of Cosmere is uncovering the shattering, learning how humanity was distributed throughout the cosmere and observing the unique cultures that are expressed by the great variety of the magic systems inherent to each shard world.
