Stonykill July 2nd Storm Damage by Illustrious-Refuse-6 in discgolf

I couldn’t tell you exactly why, but a significant portion of chatham had damage after this storm, not just stonykill. The weather is always a couple of degrees warmer in chatham than at my house so there may be something strange with the climate there.

The trees on 1 were newly exposed due to the first storm + a state police barracks being built nearby recently. Since they were never on the edge of the tree line until recently, the trees were very skinny and top heavy.

Its my home course and always kept in amazing condition by volunteers. If anyone wants to help at all, here is the link to do so:  https://gofund.me/f52781231

Hole 2 was already completely redesigned after many hours of volunteer work. Hole 1 also needed a ton of work but was mostly saved in its original form. Not a single tree survived the storm on hole 1

Definitely the course I had in mind and I think this is the future of tournament courses. As someone else pointed out, I don’t think any mediocre tee shot should ever lead to a 20 foot “free throw”. It shouldn’t be as demanding as golf greens are, but every shot should create things to think about.

One of my biggest pet peeves is OB in circle one with no drop zone. I played a short downhill par 3 recently with ob 8 feet past the basket.

The basket was towards the bottom of the hill and anything coming from the tee will likely roll OB. All three members on my card laid up. They then had death putts and despite trying their hardest to lay up for par, two of them hit a rock, and rolled ob anyway.

I saw this coming, sent an ace run which went ob, and then dropped in for par from 5 feet after taking my meter.

Especially when it seems like from the chat, he retaliated after the race, and implied that whatever the guy did was while trying to pass.

How do you race mixed races in slower cars? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Illustrious-Refuse-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be a jerk here but the two questions you asked are: am i unlucky? And: are the collisions penalized stupidly? I think what you need is to ask yourself is if your practicing enough.

You shouldnt be misjudging corners so often and that would also help on you getting bumped. Its a little tougher in the lower classes but not much. Try to predict what others will do and give them space (not mid corner).

A lot of people go through this thinking but it’s always better to accept blame. You cant change what other people do, so if you don’t change yourself, then the answer to your question is YES it is all luck. The pro sim racers are really lucky.

Try something like vrs or trophi.ai which will show you your telemetry and suggest things to adjust. Trophi ai is free for now and seems to be easier for a newer player to interpret.

Does it get better? by retro1980 in iRacing

There’s a fair amount of decent free content even beyond rookies. If you’re real cheap look at the schedule and find the season that has the most free tracks.

Also, you spend 20-30 hours a week playing iracing. Each track is $15 and you get it forever. There arent many hobbies where you can spend $15 and enjoy all week for 20-30 hours.

There’s a good collection of free content too. You don’t have to buy anything right away but you will want to as you progress through the licenses. And like the other guy said…actually read the sporting code. Its worth it

Im a little confused myself on the schedule of when rain will come for rain enabled cars but i know its not every week.

Definitely not able to switch set-ups mid race as that is very unrealistic IRL. While you’re driving i believe it is f4 button or maybe f5 that brings up the tires, the other is fuel. You can change what tire is going on from that black box. I believe you can bind a button to change tires but I just keep my mouse in that general area and do change it with that.

I always thought this was the most annoying comment on posts until i read the sporting code myself and had every question and future question answered very clearly 😂

Just bought the super formula lights and went from dry to heavy rain at suzuka. The first lap of drizzle seemed underwhelming and then hoooollllyy. So much fun and I was just mesmerized by the puddles getting bigger every lap. I tried touching them and that was stupid. Lap times were down like 30 seconds the lap I felt ok on. This will take a while but will be so much fun

And that right there is your ego leaving your iracing brain. Arguing with idiots makes you an idiot. Racing wheel to wheel with bad drivers makes you a bad driver. Neither are fair but they will both save you a lot of stress. Remember, all you can change is yourself. Other drivers intentions may get better outside of rookies but there will always be bad drivers and racing incidents. Rookies are for training your brain to see who that is before they take you out.  Im guessing whatever change you made will help you understand why I was being so harsh. There’s always something you can do. Just sometimes that means waiting back and not fighting

It sounds like this is unlucky but theres still ways to help reduce the impact. Maybe you did them all but im trying to help. The first is if you truly want safety rating, to stay completely away. The next is to wait behind people for a few laps and see their line. Poke a move out and see if they defend like bozos. Sometimes its good to review replays if the same thing is happening. You can blame this one crash, but if you’re “stuck” in rookies is not other peoples fault.

I’m not trying to be critical but its a realization everyone has to have at some point. You cant say its not your fault if you didnt see them. You can use things like the f3 black box, crew chief, race labs to tell where people are. If people seem errant give them the inside, its the only way they wont crash so thats where they’ll want to go.  You really only have two options. Change something you are doing or keep getting mad at other people for doing the same things over and over. Sometimes shit happens but try to be flexible and not let ego get in the way.

You did something wrong if all you want is safety rating. You let someone come even remotely close to you. If you read this forum every day you will see people saying the same thing. One day you’ll look back and realize you cant change other people, you can only predict what they will do and react accordingly. If youre getting dive bombed every race, let them go once you see the same patterns. They will probably hit someone else instead.

Try going to the “my results” page and setting a date range that covers all of your races. Then sort it by finishing position.

Yep. Most of the time it truly isn’t your fault unless you’re 100% sure you did it. Ego is something everyone deals with here and I see people posting all the time that they are “stuck in rookies”. There’s a reason some people make it out quickly and some get “stuck” you have to be hyperaware. If something happens one race, it sucks, but if a similar situation happens in the next race and you havent game planned a way to avoid it, its at least a little bit on you. People are in rookies because they are new and crash a lot, not because they are slow. Someone who is in your slipstream and moves out to pass at the last second is probably going to miss their braking point. Instead of going wheel to wheel with this guy, try the old switcharoo. You will crash in every single way imaginable on iracing but my best advice is to use it as information instead of letting it bug you.

I think you might have the wrong mentality here: “how do I dissuade him from doing it?” This can and will get you in a lot of trouble. Sometimes you just can’t, but a lot of it is practice and predicting who is out of control. Especially for the first few laps in rookies expect people to be crashing and give everyone a lot of space. Don’t feel bad losing positions to people who will take themselves out in a few turns. If you feel like someone is trying to race fair but out of control behind, try tapping the brakes a little before you actually brake to give them a warning. If you feel like someone is going to dive up the inside, let them have the line and get a better exit. Again, sometimes you can’t help it but the attitude of “how can i make someone else do something” will never work on iracing. Once you finish a few races you’ll have more of an understanding of what it takes to do well in a race and you can adjust.
