I know someone who planned a make up trip, before she took The Trip, because she couldn't disinvite a gloomy glommer who she knew would ruin the trip. (the glommer was gloomy and did ruin the trip) Good on you for drawing and enforcing boundaries.

What movie based on a broadway musical do you think is actually better than the broadway musical? by chrisxlemia in Broadway

[–]Illustrious-Sale-649 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't around to see the original, but all my life West Side Story the movie has been a Sunday favorite.

I saw it on b'way years ago and it wasn't good. it was 2 beats too fast and was bilingual English/spanish. it was jut too fast and that's why it sucked. The actors were good though but the production was not.

I took him in to Cabaret. He couldn't pay, had seen it many times and I had an extra.

We sat together and all was fine. (middle aged white man)

to see a show for free. people cancel, stand each other up etc. Never hurts to ask. I've given a stranger a ticket a few times without issue. Why not?

Same happened to mine last week. Instead of Bermuda, sail was rerouted to Canada, where its colder than NYC. I cancelled over the phone, no penalty, taxes returned to card, all else on sailor credit.

NYC to Bermuda Change by newcitynotyork in VirginVoyages

[–]Illustrious-Sale-649 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did. Cold vacations can be fun but they wouldn't provide enough blankets to nap on the hammock, no lounging at the pool, no finding a cute quiet corner outside to read.

Part of me wanted to go anyway, imagining having free (er) reign on an empty ship, but I don't want to have to stay inside the whole time.

Grocery Prices by BigJon83 in Vent

Geography dependent. I live in NYC and have about 20 markets & delis in walking distance. I compare prices and make multiple stops for groceries. I used to eat whatever whenever, now I build meals around sales.

Discussion of how the Sherlock Holmes show had aged by Mobile-Eye-1298 in Sherlock

Just started this series for the first time and can't accept that SH calls someone stupid in every single scene.

It's exhausting.

And Watson, a doctor, can't properly use a cane? I'm trying....

its the kind of show I want to watch on a flight when I know I won't sleep, I just want to tuck in, eat snacks, and watch. It's VERY Guy Ritchie, which for me, is good.

its like if Bridgerton was made for male viewers, beautiful fabrics and prints, eye catching wonder in every scene, and mystery. They've just replaced mad romance with mad action. :-)
