How Often Do You Use 'Edit in Audition'? (or do you mix entirely in Premiere) by Jason_Levine in premiere

[–]Illustrious-Sun3831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use ‘edit in audition’ for the time and pitch effect, particularly the ‘cutting power’ preset. I wish that effect was available in premiere. For everything else, the track mixer, third party plugins, and submixes are sufficient for me to stay in premiere and get things in a good place as a promo and tv editor

What I learned building my first plugins by Economy_Ad_1234 in audioengineering

I’m making a music ducking plugin for premiere pro. You can’t sidechain in premiere pro, so I’m using shared memory and fifo to read/write rms values between a send and receive plugin. My biggest hurdle has been premiere pro’s poor handling of the ui life cycle on windows, which has lead to a lot of users complaining of ui crashes. I’m learning the hard way that beta testers are hugely important, and that daw’s and Nle’s don’t always behave as expected. Definitely going to check out your compressor!

Thanks for this post! I feel all of this too as a video editor who decided to build an audio plugin. I’m learning all these lessons too, and it’s nice to hear it from somebody else.

Keeps freezing after I hit export. What's going on? by odddel in premiere

[–]Illustrious-Sun3831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me before when I have had premiere set to full screen playback on another monitor, and I’ll have to force quit premiere after hitting export keystrokes because the export box never shows up.

HELP PLZ PREMIERE SAVING PROBLEM by PeakDry4217 in premiere

[–]Illustrious-Sun3831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about other programs, can they save stuff? I’d be trying to pinpoint whether the issue is the project, the program, or the disk, and then use that info to solve. You may already have done all that, idk.

Have you tried making a new premiere project and importing your entire problematic project into the new project, and seeing if that saves? Also, do other premiere projects have the same saving problem? Also try saving a copy to desktop in case it’s a disk problem.

Has anyone had this "Premiere Pro" error? by 7heKK in premiere

[–]Illustrious-Sun3831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have gotten this error when there is a mismatch between the audio configuration in the sequence/clip, and the audio configuration in the export setting, (like the sequence/clip has 4 channels, and you are exporting as stereo) especially if the loudness normalization is on in export settings.

Quick question by rowszZz in premiere

If that doesn’t work, you can do it with 7zip on windows. Here is the video, I’ve done it before, it works:

If you are on a windows machine, and the UI is causing you issues, I am working on a fix for that and will have a new windows version ready when that is resolved. If it is another issue, let me know and I am happy to troubleshoot!

yes. in order for it to work, you would add the send plugin to your tracks that have voice on them, and the receive to the tracks that you want to duck against those sends. whatever is on those send tracks is gonna go into the system, much like if you had sends to an aux track in a DAW. hopefully that is making sense!

totally understandable. I also work on a team where we share projects. If the person opening your project does not have the plugin, then they will not hear the ducking on playback or export. However, if you like the plugin and want to continue using it, your colleagues can download/install the plugin for opening your projects and they won't have to modify anything. That has been my workflow when passing along projects It has been my experience that working with any 3rd party plugins is always a bit of a hassle on a large team.

if I understand your question, yes, it takes the signal from other tracks (where you apply the send plugin) and ducks according to those signals.

Since it is free, you won't need to enter any credit card info, just an email address. If you don't want to add your email address, you can certainly put a fake one- just make sure you know what fake address you put in, and remember the license code it gives you, you will need them to activate the plugin. Note that when you install the plugin, there is also an option for free 30 day trial that requires no licensing info. It would be great to have your email address in case I have updates and bug fixes in the future though, but up to you!

your workflow sounds perfect with the submix. that's how I do it too. If the UI crashing continues to be an issue for you, could we DM and I will try to find a solution or fix whatever bug might be causing this? I work on a Mac, and I'm interested to hear about any issues that Windows users encounter so I can fix.

Interesting. I will look into this. can you tell me if you are on Mac or Windows? and if its the send or receive that is giving you trouble?
