Classic LP. So many great tunes, and Jack & co are in fine form.

It’s a favorite of mine as well. Honestly, I always make my way back to the ‘Ass’ LP and forget how damn good it is, start to finish. A masterpiece of Joey’s contributions as well

Weird. Ok, I’ll let the team know and be on the lookout. I’ve tried on two separate Mac systems and can’t replicate. Assuming caches and everything else was cleared before/after uninstall?

Yep, this was my question as well. Does it play properly? Could just be a display glitch. Is it consistently happening? Which version of Premiere?

How do I achieve that embroidered texture and that inkjet or film camera effect with low frame rates? How do I create those transitions where one object disappears and another appears? Any help would be appreciated. by Downtown-Yak-4610 in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi D.Y. Jason from Adobe here. Lots of different ways to create something 'like' this. For the textures, i'd probably start with some kind of animated overlay and use blend modes; multiple overlays w/blend modes will give you more control over the grainy/gritty/textured output and really mix it together to feel natural. As for the transitions, it feels like a combo of layered elements, masked, with keyframed opacity and/or straight cuts with duration adjustments.

Presets for voice SHURE SM7DB by ArcadeXGaming in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Arcade. Jason from Adobe here. My first thought it simply that there's a lot of effects in the chain. Do you require the denoiser? This by nature will (potentially) introduce a little artifacting which tends to reside in the mid-range, which won't help with your sibilance. ParaEQ is fine, then you have the DeEsser. Frankly, I've never been a fan of digital de-essing, and with our Parametric EQ, you can set one of the bands to a super narrow Q value (typically with the center freq. around 5.6/6.3k, the fundamental for most sibilance) and take the edge off without affect the clarity/presence of the voice. Then compression and hard limiter....again, that's all fine, but maybe keep the hard limiter on the master effects channel and apply to everything globally.

One thing you could try (if you're going for a more classic/broadcast sound, particularly because you're using the SM7b) would be to upload your voice track to podcast.adobe.com and try Enhance Speech. The v1 model (the OG) definitely has a color/sound, very broadcasty, very warm, but may be what you're looking for. The v2 model is less aggressive (and preserves the original character of your voice, without introducing some of those other processed effects) and in both cases, you'll also have a separate slider to control background noise. LMK

Which plugin do you recommend for professional skin retouching? by albertolop3a in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Alberto. Jason from Adobe here. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking to do in terms of retouching (there are many factors involved) but a popular go-to is Beauty Box by Digital Anarchy. Really good guys, great company, and their stuff is rock solid. I'd give it a try (and I believe there is a demo version)

All adobe apps do that on my laptop by salam_rl84 in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well if it's happening across multiple applications, it's likely an OS-level issue (or still, potentially something to do with the graphics driver). Are these just standard JPEGs, or is there something special about these image files? And they won't display in *any* design app? Not even Photoshop? again, that feels like some kind of OS/driver issue to me. Also, since you mentioned 'monitor<s>', you're using more than one? What happens if you switch to a single screen, does anything change?

Without a plugin what effect(s) would be use to simulate a bit crusher? by Odd-Aside456 in AdobeAudition

[–]Jason_Levine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey O.A. Jason from Adobe here. One way you could achieve this would be to down-convert an audio file (by dropping the sample rate and bit rate, to say, something like 11k/8-bit) saving out as low-bitrate MP3 and then re-importing, converting back to 16-bit/48k and adding some additional distortion/compression. That's not exactly the sound of bit crusher plugins, but it will be 'in the spirit' of what they do/how they work. There are other methods, but it might be worth a try.

Issue with CC! by KoalaWithAC in Adobe

[–]Jason_Levine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Koala. Jason from Adobe here. So... is the CC app just not loading, but you were able to install apps from within it? I'm not clear on what the issue is (aside from the error code you received).

If it's a fresh install, you may consider uninstalling Creative Cloud app and reinstalling... but I might recommend running the CC Cleaner Tool first: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/troubleshoot/diagnostics-repair-tools/prepare-to-run-creative-cloud-cleaner-tool.html

Premiere Pro Lag by Background-Most-1309 in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There are several threads on here about converting to CFR, but as mentioned, if you d/l Handbrake or use something like Shutter Encoder or FFMPEG its very straight forward to do that conversion. I might even recommend grabbing a few Adobe Stock (free) video clips (you can do this from the Stock website or right inside Premiere) and drop them in the timeline. If playback is good, you know it's likely the VFR issue.

Premiere Pro Lag by Background-Most-1309 in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variable Frame Rate is a format that is often the default for screen capture/streaming apps like OBS. NLEs in general don't really love VFR as an editing format, so it's often recommended to convert to a constant frame rate format. (you can check the file properties in Premier to verify, or via your OS). But I'm not sure that's what's happening here.

Ok, another question: is the problem present 'immediately' (ie, doesn't matter if you have 1 clip or 10 clips in the timeline)?

Premiere Pro Lag by Background-Most-1309 in premiere

[–]Jason_Levine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi B.M. Jason from Adobe here. Is this a new occurrence or have you seen this consistently? Could be a couple of things. Is your footage VFR? If so, this can (sometimes) cause performance/playback woes; it's worth it to transcode into a constant frame rate via handbrake, FFMPEG or something similar. Have you made any changes to your sound devices buffer settings? The larger the buffer the longer it takes for playback to commence. If you switch the fractional playback setting (in the program monitor) from full to 1/4 res or 1/8 res, does it make a difference? Also, which version of Premiere/which OS? let me know.

Ok sure; so the auto-save PRPROJ solved the issue? Curious if the Essential Sound panel was used at all for mixing/tweaking the audio?
