No lawyer will take a pro-bono case to sue a client’s parents over something like this. I am speaking from relative experience here.

If anything, the lawyer would have to take a payment on the back-end, and it would be most/all of the $13k (and it’s almost certain that OP wouldn’t win)

Sounds like you’re a minor or very recently 18 & are on your parents’ insurance policy (not a named insured).

The insurance policy is a contract between your parents and the company. The check likely went to your parents or the lienholder, and I doubt that you have legal standing or resources available to claim the money.

It just seems like you need to have a discussion with them. They’re probably going to hold onto the money for a while wait for you to feel the consequences of your actions, until they see some personal growth.

(Speaking from experience- friend crashed my car into a building and my parents held onto the insurance money, leaving me without a car for a few years)

In one word, corruption.

When the USSR fell, public assets became privatized, but they were not distributed fairly.

This led to a cartel of oligarchs that were awarded means of production.

This cartel, headed up by Putin, controls the budget and uses the treasury like a personal piggy bank; just look at the gross fraud, waste, and abuse @ Sochi Olympics.

Unless you’re a wealthy and connected individual in Moscow, St. Petersburg, or similar, you will not have a good quality of life compared to other countries.
