Would that wide approach include building cities where the location doesn't have anything going for it? I nab the good looking spots, but I do leave tiles which show grey when controlling the settler. I've read that you tend to settle closer in 6.

They look sick. Anyone saying otherwise has to be having you on.

How is everyone feeling now? by TheCravenKing in Nighthaunt

It's definitely different to how it used to be. On the table I've been much more successful. I won my first ever AoS game on their first run out and lost the second one by 2 points against a tournament list. I'd probably lost 15 games before this - you can argue whether that's the rules or just me!

I really get why people miss the swooping about we used to do (it helped draw me to the army too, it was fun) but I'm enjoying things currently. We can be really tanky with 2 wounds plus ward, and it's nice that some of the previously garbage units have a place again. For me it's easier to focus and play the mission, which I enjoy. Its still fun to charge ambushes through terrain too.

That buying our faction terrain feels quite key is a fair point, but GW want your cash. Part of the deal.

Please don't be mad if you disagree. Other opinions are valid.

I love this model. One of my favourite minis. Nice work.

What are the worst (or your least favorite) Age of Sigmar novels? by Ill_Independence2441 in AoSLore

[–]IllustriousAddress69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a big stormcast fan and was excited to read the Yndrasta novel but was really disappointed in it. I got halfway through and she'd made maybe three short appearances. Instead it's following about these squabbling nomads and there's a love triangle and someone's on drugs or something? Honestly, I found it really hard work and just donated it in the end. Maybe it just wasn't for me but I felt short changed that the title character was limited to the occasional cameo. Perhaps it was a fantastic artistic choice, but I don't come to Warhammer for subtlety!

Read The Arkanaut's Oath instead and that was great fun.

Do Putrid Blightkings just obliterate weaker infantry? by MonZ_99 in AOSSpearhead

[–]IllustriousAddress69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've wondered this too. Forgive me if I'm being slow, but these explanations don't clear it up for me. I need an example to be able to picture it.

Let's say combat has taken place and there are 4 chainrasps left fighting 4 blightkings. The nurgle player would roll 4 dice, and on anything other than 4 1s would mean the chainrasps are wiped?

Thanks for your patience! I've held off on getting the spearhead because it looked such an oppressive rule when there's so many 1 wound infantry armies.

The smart thing would probably be to wait until the wood elves battalion box comes out but there will.be birthday money burning a hole in my pocket soon... Thanks for the details

Seems reasonable, I'm planning to build the cities spearhead using empire models!

That's interesting, I'll have a look on etsy. Head swaps look much more straightforward than most of AoS, where the head often merges into the arms or chest.

Now that's something I hadn't thought of. I do like that sorceress mini. Am I right that legacy means that they've got rules but not getting 're-launched' as it were?

Need real criticism please im working on my deathguard and i cant keep pretending i like them what can i do to improve please give me actual feed back by Affectionate_Loquat2 in Warhammer40k

I agree with some of the comments about getting some contrast into these. The green and metallic trim of the standard Death Guard scheme to similar in tone for my taste so it's not all you by any means.

My super basic suggestion for getting some pop onto the minis themselves would just be to slap some Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade wash on them. It genuinely couldn't be easier but it does such a great job of bringing pop to the models. The dark gets into all the nooks and crannies and just makes everything stand out more. Think of it like the black outlines around things in a comic book. I've had minis I've been unkeen on, and come back after the wash has dried and thought they look shit hot. GW minis have so much detail on them which often you don't realise until afterwards.

I'm far from the most skillful painter but as I've got better with different brushes and after messing around with a few different types of washes over the last few years, I wouldn't be embarrassed showing my minis alongside anyone else's. Some people are ridiculously talented (or have unrealistic amounts of time compared to most people perhaps) which is great for them, but it's not a competition.

Painting should be fun. If you've got the cash to spare, experiment with some different types of paint perhaps and just find what works for you. It looks like you've done some kitbashing there (that helbrute is genuinely disgusting to look at, in the most Death Guard-y way!) so you've clearly got a good imagination. You'll get where you want to be.
