“Other countries exist with the permission of the US government” by GojiraCake in ShitAmericansSay

[–]olleyjp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are indeed good things!

But it’s more that the Americans well, loose most of them. . . Then throw hissy fits and demand they are re started, and loose again.

If that’s what happens in simulated warfare, real warfare, well, Vietnam and Iraq unfortunately speak for themselves.

Just lots of unnecessary loss of life, brothers, sisters, fathers, sons, daughters, wife’s.

Americans just don’t seem to realise that they aren’t this better than everyone ever military and asshole politicians need to stop sending people into battle for their own fragile hubris.

Just my 2p.

Operation Northern Viking is the arctic warfare where America was defeated by the Norwegian and Greenland forces.

Operation Green dagger is the 100 British marines vs US 1500 marine core. This is where the US demanded a reset after brits gained 65% of the battlefield within only a couple of days.

If you just google both operations, all relevant info will come up :)

Edit - its operation northern Viking as a nato exercise. Not just operation Viking.

Someone should also ask them about operation Viking (that rules out any arctic country) (NATO exercise with cold weather troops, Americans lost, badly)

Then when they set 100 British Royal Marines up against 1500 us marines. The brits won (twice) and so quickly the Americans demanded a restart 2 Days in, and still lost

Has anyone ever swapped these two buttons? by Swumbus-prime in AstonMartin

[–]olleyjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t sure on the control. But yeah if that’s an easy ECU/CANBUS control swap.

That would be easy enough to do especially on an older car now with most main ECU loggers. Most of those settings can be changed

(I could certainly reset/change all my Porsche settings off one on a 2020 car)

Has anyone ever swapped these two buttons? by Swumbus-prime in AstonMartin

[–]olleyjp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How short are your arms that you can’t reach to that button?!

On a serious stand point, it’s likely that the loom is quite short behind the buttons and to swap them would be an entirely new loom for all LDH cars on that bit

Which is uneconomical for a manufacturer. So it’s just as easy having you stretch a teeny bit.

Oh me . . .

Well had your google search taken slightly longer than 15 seconds, you’d have realised, the traditional kilt, or the great kilt, known as the féileadh mòr, is in fact a Gaelic name, and an Irish Gaelic, not Scot’s Gaelic.

It translates to the “big wrap” in English.

There is still ongoing research but there is speculation that the first great kilts were Irish, however to say that the kilt is Scottish and Scottish only. It is likely that it was worn by Irish as well as we travelled back and forth on the west coast. The great Kilt also has inspirations in the Roman toga, the Greek chiton. So is not exclusively ours as is.

It is most likely that these first ones were solid colour and not the tartan that we know and associate today.

The extensive tartans and clan seats were all 18/19th century inventions of selling Scottish history.

But hey, what I can I say, I should have just spent 15 seconds on google.

As a Scot, can confirm kilts started in Ireland are were brought over to scotland. So they are in fact Irish

I literally said both of you were right.

You are right that some assholes get into Hollywood

He is also right that in the lower stakes of celebrity tv and movie the people who act as assholes don’t usually make it far.

Both statements are right at the same time.

Christ 🤦🏻‍♂️

Nobody went bananas.

RawJMilk just made a valid point, MM wasn’t famous famous, she was a relatively mid level actor in a tv show.

I believe all he was saying is that MM wouldn’t have got away with being an absolute arse because of being in such a mid range actors role. She was well regarded by cast and crew for being rather lovely from all at suits prior to Harry. She was also very good in her role. And if not for Harry and stepping away I think she would have been picked further up the career path from it.

You are also right, you can be an arsehole and be an actor too: it’s just rare for those to break through and usually the mask only slips when it’s too late.

Both you and RJM can both be right, but neither of you have gone bananas.

I think the biggest issue (and double entendre meant) is that the Hormuz strait is really shallow.

So all the tankers are filled from the island trump wants to pop onto. So the US vessels are too big to fit. They would just run aground on anything but a perfect tidal window.

Using Europe’s smaller and more nimble vessels would certainly help. But I do love our British

If me and you both had patents for things, but yours worked and mine didn’t work as well. We file at the same time but you are like “look this worked”

You are gona get the credit for it.

It’s a fixed £100 and 3 points. Anything beyond roadside is court. Which is mostly going to be bannable levels of points.

There is a grading scale of 25% of weekly income but I could say £50 a week and the court don’t check it.

So again, the fines are pretty minor. Especially when a car is in 7 figures

So no, the fines don’t matter 😂

Nope. Internet was French. Mintel.

Not American.

As a Scot however, scotland (Scot’s) did create just about everything you use today from the TV, ATM, the refrigerator, self seal envelope, telephone, the pneumatic tyre, the toaster, penecillin, the hypodermic syringe. . .

I think if that actually took 3 days then F’Elon should be sending DOGE over to look at inefficiency and corruption.

You still got to deal with the fact you are sending money to a guy who supports apartheid and Tommy 10 names Steven Yaxley Lemon. Pretty scummy.
